Riley Hill (rileyhill) | 14 comments I don't understand why I'm listed as a Librarian, yet it says only Librarians can delete covers when I try to delete mine. I need the cover deleted for "Partay!!" This book is unpublished and I own the rights to this cover. I want it down. Can one of you do that please?

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments Riley,

As an author you have limited Librarian privileges for your own books. Deleting covers is not one of those limited privileges.

Also, I see a book Partay!! under your books so I am assuming that is the book in question. There are two versions of the book listed and they have different covers. Are you referring to both covers or just one of the covers?

Also, you indicate that this book is unpublished but it has a publication date of May 14, 2012. Are you saying that publication date is wrong?

Btw, your request double posted. You may want to delete the other one.

lafon حمزة نوفل (lafon) | 3544 comments You are a Goodreads author, not a librarian. Authors have limited powers over their own books. Please do not vandalize books, by removing data and so forth. Also Goodreads does not delete unpublished books, nor do we change covers. You may wish to show that a book is no longer published by following these instructions: http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/32... (it's still for sale on Amazon though, so it can't be no longer published, no?)

And my post there. Copy here: (view spoiler)

P.S. Why is it that recently all topics are duplicated?

At one point I was told I was a Librarian as I had reviewed or added a certain number of books and had applied to the group...

Sorry about the duplication.. I went "back" and thought I hadn't posted, so I hit the button twice.

So the original cover is still there as well? I'd like them both removed.

It isn't (or shouldn't be) for sale on Amazon or anywhere else as I unpublished it. I just did a search and could not find it anywhere.

Monique (kadiya) | 1097 comments Riley,

We do not remove a book that is no longer being published. This is a book cataloguing site.

You can add a line in the description field to indicate that a book is no longer published as per the instructions in lafon's link at message #3.

If someone adds a lot of books he gets in the librarian lists, but in order to be a Goodreads librarian a user must apply. Such status is not granted to authors so they will not misuse it. All authors can edit their own books.

No worries about the duplicate. I just noticed it is a tendency lately.

I'm sorry but that is not going to happen. As I said in the other topic this is a cataloging website. People shelve the editions they have read and if they start disappearing what would be the point of a website for cataloging books?

Also if someone un-publishes a book, the author will not ask the readers to return the physical copies (I hope).

We have many cases where authors want covers/books down, but this is not a seller website. If you still have an issue you will have to contact GR directly. We are all volunteers and cannot make such decisions.

Hope you understand why we are refusing, nothing personal. -.-

Yes. Thanks. I understand and I'll contact them directly. I need to know why GR can violate copyright laws by continuing to publish documents they have been requested to take down by the owner. I don't mean you personally--this seems to be a legal flaw in the system. Unless I signed something I wasn't aware of.

Thanks for explaining.

If you have uploaded any excerpts or the books you can remove them, but as far as I know GR is not publishing anything. Those are just data entries of your books, showing that those books have been at one point or another available to readers. And those readers will shelve the books to indicate they have read it and to have an archive of those for personal use.

If you no longer wish to be associated with those books there is another solution to this. But I'm sure the gr staff will help you

Good luck ;)
