Tell me I'm not the only one who hates Daniel with passion

Kristina He must be the dullest moron I have ever read about. He literally has no personality--is moping around until his girlfriend grows up again so he can kill her with a kiss considered one--and every thing he does/says is a brain cell burner and I feel so brainwashed and stupid after reading this...

I'm not the only one, right?

Sibella I didn't like Daniel either. I wish that Daniel and Cam would switch places in the book (sooo yeah, Luce would like Cam better.)I even wrote a review on Fallen on my blog (www.reviewsofyabooks.blogspot.ca) stating how much I liked Cam.

Neha To tell I the truth I did not like the book as a whole cause as Kristina said I got bored of reading that Daniel and Luce meet, kiss, Luce dies, and the cycle repeats

No, you're not the only one...
I couldn't for the life of me, understand, why everybody loved him...

Beans I agree with you fully.

Alice He was just annoying... I couldn't understand why Luce loved him.

Kristina Alice wrote: "He was just annoying... I couldn't understand why Luce loved him."

That, and why he loved her. The whole thing was just 'hey we love each other for no apparent reason, but our love is so tragic and blah, blah, blah'

Rose I agree. My inability to root for the couple that I should be rooting for did me in. I read the first book and didn't bother with the rest. Cam had more personality for sure.

Димитра Cam should have been with Luce from the first book,i mean come on Daniel is handsome, romantic blah blah blah but as everybody has already said he was killing her with only one kiss and he was taking her away from her family. And i somehow feel that it was Lauren Kate's fault that Cam and Lucinda's relationship was never evolve.Lauren was obssesed writing all the time about Daniel's torturing life after loosing Luce and she never explained if Cam had feelings for Luce or if he was playing with her in order to piss off Daniel. The funny fact is that Cam is Lauren Kate's favourite character but in the books it seems the opposite. In my opinion, though even if Cam didnt love Luce i believe he was trying to protect her from Daniel and not kill her or mess up with her as the other angels were telling.

Morgan I cant stand him!!!!

Keiley No, dear, you are definitely not the only one. The only thing finishing this book did was reinforce the idea that I really freaking hated Daniel. He was boring and honestly? A complete asshole who bordered on being abusive (And technically, was a serial killer).

Kylie Is it weird that I was totally in love with Cam throughout the book?

Keiley It definitely can't be worse than being in love with Daniel, so...

Brooke I'd have to disagree. I don't particularly love Daniel... but the whole series is based off the fact that their souls were connected. The books are based off the belief of Daniel and Luce being soul mates and no matter how hard Daniel tries to avoid Luce, there souls just find each other, which is why he is so "blah". He tries not to make contact with her in hopes avoiding the curse that neither of them fully understand how to break. He wasn't a very interesting character and I think only because the entire series he was just trying to protect her. We never got to see any other side of him because the book wasn't about him, it was about Luce and her burning desire for him. and how she wanted so desperately to find how it all started so she could stop the curse and they could only be together. I think Lauren Kate did a great job of showing how much they earned for each other. every moment between the two was intense and romantic. And so full of passion.

This. I mean, how hard can it be just not kissing someone?

Trish I honestly hated this entire book. It was long, drawn-out and pointless. All of the characters got on my nerves.

Naya Trish wrote: "I honestly hated this entire book. It was long, drawn-out and pointless. All of the characters got on my nerves."

Ugh, agree with you. I rated it a three because of the writer's ability to write. But the characters were flat, the plot was underwhelming and the love story was completely non-existant.

Luce is equivalent to Bella Swan. Actually I prefer Bella.

I.... Actually loved Daniel....

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah..... His devotion was touching. Side trips, like Shelby, were honestly expected. But the lengths he went to for Luce were enchanting. Love so strong is rare even in books. Was he a little idiotic about it sometimes? Definitely. But I think he made up for it.
That's not saying this was one of my favorite series, though I did like it (until the last book), but Daniel was one character I really liked.

It's not actually him, it's Satan's curse. You should remember that it wasn't always a kiss. It was the love she would feel, or when she started getting too close to the truth. The kiss was a common thing, but it wasn't the only thing. It also wasn't the kiss itself, it was the feelings it awakened. It also wasn't always Daniel kissing Luce. She would kiss him too.

It was the one thing he had never tried before -being a jerk to try and drive her off. In Passion, you see he was always the perfect gentlemen. She always fell in love with his smiles, his charm, his kindness, immediately. But someone she didn't know (or, didn't think she knew) just randomly flicking her off? It's a turn off. And he was hoping it might be what would finally break the curse. Or keep her away from him at the very least.

Kristina Or instead of flipping her off, he could just run away and not come back to that place. Being away would definitely help more.

Anyway, do we ever get an explanation as to why they love each other? The author repeats over and over again that they love each other, even in the beginning, but the whole thing just seems so instant.

Have you read the fourth book yet?

Kristina Savannah wrote: "Have you read the fourth book yet?"

No. The first three were horrible enough for me.

Lol. Well, that's where it's all explained. I LIKED the first three books, and even I wasn't a fan of the fourth one. So if YOU didn't like the first three at all, I strongly recommend that you don't read the fourth one.

Isabel At the end of the last book, I was rooting for Luce to end up with Lucifer. Like, genuinely. That's how uninspiring this couple are.

Cassie 'The Thinker Go Go Go Go' Mis. Roben Goodfellow'\Isabelle Lightwood I don't really hate him but he's sooo anyoing at times.
