Stories were the heroine goes to a new world and helps to change it?

Are there any paranormals or fantasy romances where the heroine enters a new land which is filled with problems like a medieval power structure where women and others are discriminated against but she changes things? i'm looking specifically for books where the heroine helps to solve societal problems in a new world. thanks.

Thanks. I’ve now read the reviews of these books. I note the heroine does NOT change the new world she enters. The books you guys mentioned sound interesting but I’m looking for books where the heroine makes the hero realize there is something wrong with his world, and helps to bring about a fairer deal for women and others. Are there no such books?

Read Anne McCaffrey's Dragon Rider's of Pern series. This book in the series is perfect

Genetic modification saves the colonists from thread and its a woman who does it. Its not exactly a romance but it gets quite warm when it describes a mating flight.

Michelle M. Pillow has that kind of books in her series Dragon Lords and more in Lords of the Var . I think that the first 2 books in the Lords of the Var are what you are looking for . The first heroine stops a biological attack and the second one discovers a deadly experiment and saves the day :D

Really Unusual Bad Boys (a collection of short stories all set in the same world) has a single story like that in it. It's one where one of the women who drop into that world discovers a group of people who are discriminated against and fixes the problem.

However, as is usual with most of MaryJanice Davidson's work, there is a LOT of humour in these 3 stories.

Ok, almost forgot The Bloodhound Files series. An FBI agent gets pulled into another world. One where they have never had serial killers before, and they need her to track down and help them contain the sudden, new crop of serial killers they have. Been a while since I read the first one, so I am not totally positive on why it happened, except that someone threw a spell that caused something like 1 in every 100?1000?10,000 to suddenly go insane and start killing people.

The world is inhabited largely by werewolves and vampires, with humans as a very tiny, and swiftly dieing, endangered species.

It's a Romeo & Juliet story with warring djinn (genie) families (they are fighting over access to water) and a happy ending.

The water djinn heroine from a matriarchal society unknowingly hooks up with the earth djinn crown prince from a very patriarchal society. When assassins surprise them, the heroine ends up injured and taken into enemy territory. The role and value of women as seen in different societies is a big part of the story.
