Antonomasia | 514 comments There have been loads of records like this in the last few months. Even if I don't go looking, a few times a week I end up amending these just because I've seen them in the newsfeed or in lists. It's usually new books or new editions and it seems to be much more common than it was last year.

For example the one I've just edited said
Unhappy-Go-Lucky. by Ian Pattison
in the title fields (as well as having the author name where it should be).

Possibly this could be sorted out by tweaking a setting in a datafeed so librarians don't have to keep tidying it up manually.

I've seen many of those. I suggest similar tweaking for the authors fields (like exclusion of words like "by", "&", autho, composer, translator, sir, dr and etc.) and lets say limited to 5 separate words. Just in case someone has 4 names and a Jr.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Sometimes the author's name belongs in the title field.

The Collected Stories of Katherine Anne Porter

The Collected Stories, which I have corrected because the correct title includes the author's name.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments And, sometimes "by" is a part of the title.

No idea if it is, but we have not added any new data sources lately.

In any case, there are too many cases where such data is correct for a filter to catch them without making more problems than it solves.

Lobstergirl I've been seeing this for at least a year. In fact I'm sure I posted about it months ago. It's an Ingram or an Onix Ingram issue, no?

There is also the case of ebooks where, if the title is "Cruelty," the title of the uploaded ebook will be "Cruelty Cruelty Cruelty Cruelty." Repeated 3-5 times.
