This book was unlike any i've ever read. It made me truly feel a little more of what the halocaust was really like. It helped me realize just how horrible it really was.

Yes I liked the movie as well. The book was great!

This was a great book, and there is also a movie which was very good as far as book adaptations go. If you are interested in the Holocaust, try Jodi Picoult's The Storyteller!

This is most likely the saddest book I have ever read. De Rosnay's voice and style as a writer are exquisite. The movie is also well done but could not compare to the elegant prose in the book.

Loved it as well. I never like reading about the Holocaust but this book pushed me through it and I enjoyed it all.

This book was amazing, I have just finished reading it for the 2nd time. Also saw the movie and I have to say it is the best movie I have seen from a book.
loved this!!

I loved the book, and the photography in the movie was excellent!

I loved the history, tale, and people in this book. I recommend Ed it to my book club!

I could not finish this book. When I returned it to the library and made a negative remark about it, the librarian said she'd heard the same thing from a number of other readers. I felt like the author was using the Holocaust more for her purposes than anything else. When the POV character states early in the book what a pain it is to have such a gorgeous hunk of a husband, I had to stop. Who says something like that?

I will give this book 2 stars as I try to give 1 star to book s that I hate. There are 2 stories in this novel. A tragic story of Sarah who was a Jewish girl in 1942 and a self absorbed one deferential American woman living in France with her philandering husband sixty years later. If the whole story had focused on Sarah's story, this would have been an excellent read. Unfortunately the author spent too little time on Sarah's story and a great deal of time on Julia's sex life with her French husband. Sarah's story ended way too soon.

To make matters worse, I listened to this as an audio book and the narrator was very poor. Her attempt to do character voices made a tragic situation laughable. It was like listening to a poorly performed puppet theater without being able to see the stage.

I loved the film and it made me read the book and the book was just as good, just a great read. I give this book a 4.3/5 I just found the story of Sarah's was more powerful than Julia's part.

:)

I read Sarah's Key...I have not seen the movie..I looked on line about that time..absolutely tragic..I found it to be a well-written tale of fiction based on the realities of children witnessing such horrors.
