"Grace's Pictures," a novel about a 15-year-old Irish immigrant girl, written by friend Cindy Thomson. As well as continuing my way through "the Two Towers" in Spanish, while simultaneously re-reading it in English. And a Superman trade paperback.

I am reading Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital. It is a true story about patients that were in the hospital during Katrina. It really makes you think about what would you do. Marguerite

I've always thought I should read Anna Karenina since it's a classic, but it sounds so depressing! Was it?

I heard so many mixed reviews on Flowers in the Attic but I've never read it. I'm really sensitive when I read about abuse in books, so I've shied away from it.

In Spanish??? You get the overachiever award. :) I wish I could speak in another language, but my Japanese skills are nil.

on to "Insurgent." As I read "Divergent" I kept feeling like it had a Christiam undertone. Fun to find out the author is a Christian.

Thanks, Camy. You might not remember, but a few years ago I was reading FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING in Portuguese. I also can read some Italian, but I doubt that I will try to find a copy of RETURN OF THE KING in that language.

Oh that's right now I remember! Wow, you can understand both Spanish and Portuguese? That's awesome!

Thanks, Camy. Also some Italian, but it is the weakest of my languages. I used to be a Spanish teacher, and since the Romance (Latin) languages have great similarities, when you know one it is easy to pick up others.

I want to learn Japanese, but have a hard time disciplining myself to study it every day. :P

Learning another language is harder as one ages, alas. Not that you are old, Camy! Definitely not. But you know what I mean. But you're right, it does take daily discipline. You obviously already have that with your writing and other tasks, but it can be hard, then, to add just one more dose of daily discipline. But don't give up yet. Perhaps you can write a story in which some authentic Japanese dialog is included, and that would be an added motivation to learn.

Ooh that's neat! I've never seen a story about the woman at the well before!

Camy, it was really good! I liked it a lot. She brought the story to life without and filled in details without changing anything. I've got her second novel as well, I'm eager to get to it!

If you ever happen to see a story about the woman caught in adultery, I would totally read that! She's my favorite Biblical character because I relate so much to her guilt and sin. Not that I ever committed adultery, but I did some awful things before I became a Christian, and God forgave me anyway. :)

That is exactly what happens in this story! And the scene where she meets Jesus at the well, it's beautiful!

The story is actually told more through her daughter's eyes, which was a unique touch I thought.

I finished Camy's short story "Necessary Proof"from First Kisses Inspy collection. I gave it 4.5* It was so good that I wanted an entire novel about Alex and Jane. Good to revisit Sonoma. I'll have to reread the series soon!
Camy, thanks for keeping the faith thread in your story. A couple of the stories were clean but not inspirational.

I'm reading "The Girl Who Started the War to End All Wars Part One" by Rachelle McCalla. Back to the Future meets Downton Abbey with dystopia and steampunk mixed in. Read-a-like for "Divergent" or "Hunger Games." Fans of young adult, alternative history, Edwardian, and/or science fiction will like this.

Aw thanks so much Heather!!! I really enjoyed writing about Jane and Alx. I've been wanting to write their story since I wrote them into Formula for Danger and I was so thrilled to get a chance to with this novella collection.

As for a faith thread, I was just talking about this with some friends of mine. Some of my writer friends can write a moral story thread and not necessarily a faith thread, but MaryLu Tyndall and I were talking about how we couldn't NOT put a faith thread in any of our books. I just wouldn't know how not to write about God since He's such a huge part of my life and my internal struggles.
