Book Chat - Not Your Average Fairy Tale

So, this was the winner of our first runner up poll. I’m glad this one got a second chance because I really enjoyed it. I liked that we got the POV of both Kendall and Ash. I have really grown to love when books have the guys POV! I thought both were likable and I was rooting for them to find a way to be together. I thought their romance was fun and that they had good chemistry. I thought the dialog in the book was believable as well. I thought the premise was original as well and I liked that we got to see both worlds. It does end with some cliffhangers so I’m excited to read the next book,Not Your Average Happy Ending, when it comes out. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Sedgwick!

Just finished this book and totally LOVED it!! It was so gooood. I loved Ash. Holy moley did I love Ash. He was everything you wanted in a guy. I loved how how Kendall always took him down a notch. For some reason this book never struck me as one I needed to read right away, so this was a great excuse for me to read it. Loved. It.

Going into it I had no idea it would be a series. The last quarter of the book I started to wonder and then of course with the epilogue I knew there had to be. I wish we had a date and a cover so we knew when it was coming.

Deb- I'm so glad you liked this one! It's definitely a hidden gem. I think it's only going to be a two-book series and the second one should be out sometime this year! I hope so anyway. I've known the author (through blogging, Goodreads and Facebook) for a long time, she is awesome. I will definitely keep an eye out for future books. I know she has a few works in progress.

This was a great book!!! I was reading some while traveling to a family reunion on Saturday and my kids thought it was hilarious that there was a male fairy godmother. I was quite skeptical at first, but it worked. It totally worked!! Ash was so perfect and Deborah's right--it was great how Kendall always took him down a notch. I mentioned in my review, I had a hard time with her name at first, but that's about all I could complain about. Kathy, I love the varying points of view too--especially so we get a feel for what the guy's thinking.

I wasn't expecting the "bad guy" to be who it turned out to be. I love to be surprised in a book. This proves my theory that a person can still be amazing, even with bad parents. :)

I'm glad that you did the runner-up book too. Especially this book. I just finished reading a couple of "heavy" books so I found reading Chantele's book (for the second time now) very refreshing! I loved it just as much this time around! I hope the sequel comes out soon.

I really enjoyed it too. I loved Ash's reaction to being a fairy godmother. It was hilarious, and felt authentic to how a teenage guy would feel about that. I loved how he didn't give up on Kendall, and all of the verbal sparring.
I only wished that the book could have been wrapped up in one book instead of a series. I think I'm getting burnt out on trilogies. It's refreshing to see a two book series though, and I'm sure I'll enjoy seeing what happens after those twists at the end.

Jessie- I know what you mean, I'm also getting tired of series. Especially ones that aren't finished yet. I hate waiting. They probably wouldn't bother me if I just waited for the whole series to be done and then read them all at once. :)

That would probably help! But I'm not patient enough for that either! Now it seems like I love a book, but by the time it's sequel, and subsequent books come out, I drag my feet about reading them. Maybe it's something about having the story put on pause for such a long duration.

Yes!! I'm a mood reader so I may not be in The mood when the next book comes around and then I've forgotten what happened in the previous book. I have so many books on my To-read list that I don't always want to re-read all the books in a series. You know?

Yup! At that point I put it off because I don't want to reread the whole series. I usually end up jumping right in. It takes me a little while to remember where I was in the series, but it usually works out alright :). Or I just reread the last 30 pages of the previous book and that sets me up nicely.

That's a great idea!! I don't always have time to reread the previous books so the last 30 pages would be nice. I'm a mood reader too. Maybe all women are? Haha.

Pretty much--haha!! I just think we feel things more and therefore our reading choices reflect that. My hubby sticks with the same two types of books all the time!! Of course, it could just be me... ;)

I just have to post again, and say that my 11 year old absolutely loves this book. That is saying something because she is a reluctant reader and I have a hard time finding books she will finish let alone enjoy. She is reading it for the second time now (and begged that we purchase a copy for her). She did say that there were a couple parts that were a little too romancy for her. he he :D Thank you Chantele Sedgwick for writing such a wonderful book!! My daughter and I are looking forward to the second one.
