I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It's not glowing I'm afraid.
After reading the initial overview I was excited at the prospect of reading this. Sounds just up my street I thought.
I will admit that there are all the elements (pardon the pun) here for a great story, however for some reason it never got there. Natalie starts out as a reluctant young woman who has had her heart broken and obviously has some emotional issues. She changes rapidly to someone who obviously is going through some physical problems too. Now whilst I enjoy fantasy novels I do not like implausibility. Ironic I know. But to me if I was going through some weird physical traumas I would seek medical advice. Seriously who wouldn't? Not realistic that she doesn't. Combine that with the freaky plane storm (which is briefly touched upon), weird trial vitamins (again briefly touched upon) and extreme physical reactions to a rather hot young man (not explicitly mentioned but implied) and you are on stimulation overload as to working out what her deal is and which (if any of these things) is causing these changes. It was too much.
Then of course there was the ending. I despise cliff-hangers. And this was one of those that made me cringe because now I am obliged to buy the next book to satiate my curiosity.

It's an interesting story. In the beginning of the story I thought this had to have been written by a man, because I think that it isn't that believable that (spoiler alert) an eighteen year old girl would be that jaded after being cheated on. I understood very well that the girl did not want to get hurt again (before I read the bar scene), after that the writer should have given more depth about the feelings of apprehension and, rather than repeating that she wouldn't allow herself to be hurt again. It's the literary equivalent of writing in all caps. Also if a guy texts and calls repeatedly before 10:PM it's obvious that he likes her, and it seems that she is too naive about that. Once the story got to the party it was much better. The storyline moved faster and I became enveloped into it. I read the Twilight Series and gave it a generous 1 star so if that piece of crap can gross millions per film. Than this would be just under the last X-Men movie if it made it to silver screen.
