Sarah, Martha and I will be reading book one from the Summer series by Jenny Han! Everyone welcome :)



Goodreads synopsis:

I'm going to read a bit of this now as this is the next book on my list. I'm not planning to read it all today though ☺

I ordered this book a while ago but I think it might be late :/ might have to join you guys with the read a day or so later.

I've had it on my kindle for ages. It's quite an easy, quick read. I read up to 45% quite quickly so I stopped!

It's 276 pages in hardbound so it's really a quick read! I'm already 36%. How are you liking this one, so far, Sarah?

It's okay. Nothing special so far. What do you think?
I'm reading a bit of black city at the moment, then I'll finish this when I go to bed as it's on my kindle ☺

I feel kinda sorry for her that they call her belly! what a pants nickname!

Still at 36% in. There's not much happening yet and from what I've read, it will only be just about how Belly's summers work, and how each of it will make it special and what would change at a time. I hope I don't get bored though, as I feel there's no plot, so far, because my friends liked this book. Also, it seems like it can just be a standalone. Until then, I have to kedp reading.

I agree. It's quite a light story. I'd say it could be a standalone too but the ending isn't all that satisfying for a standalone.

Wow. I'm also a girl so I know how Belly feels. Being with 3 boys who.are much older than you, you will really feel outnumbered or out of place. I hate being treated like a baby, like I'm the one to be looked out for, like I should always be checked up on or be over protective about. And that really sucks! I really know how that feels because I'm 17 but people think I'm 13 or 14 because of my height (5'2) and my young face (I have huge cheeks that people always pinch. It's like I'm known for it).

the boys aren't very nice to her really. they totally treat her like she's inferior.

Aww... I feel bad you both didn't like it. The setting played a big role in this one for me. ...the beach house and the special magic of her summers. I could relate to it. And I liked the writing.

What can I say? I'm hard to please!

I'm at 45% and I'm actually enjoying it! I like the summery feeling and the beach house. I also like the character interactions. I don't know what to think of Conrad at the moment. He seems like he thinks he's better than everyone else - I hope that's not the case! I feel for Belly (hate that nickname though!) I also really like their mums and their relationship.

Belly is an awful nickname! I hope we get more from conrad in the next book. It's difficult to know what to think of him in this one.

I think it was mostly a character study book. More romance and Conrad and Jeremiah's POVs in the other books.

I have the first 2 but I've read the series before and loved them so much. I never knew how it was gonna end. This was one of the two books I've actually ever cried in. XD

I cried as well. It's sad in places, but it's also beautiful. You know how sometimes people cry at weddings? it's like that ☺
