I'm thinking Who Do, Voodoo? will be up next for me. What can I say? There are candles on the cover, so I can cross off at least one of this month's mini challenges.

I love this series. Anxiously awaiting the release of the next book, but there's no word on when that will be.

I enjoyed a Deadly Grind. The author who writes the Death and Taxes series lives in my area and is scheduled for a book signing in the next few weeks. I may try to read that one.

The Devereaux Dime store book was a pretty good read. Much better than some of her more recent Scumble River books. I liked DEADLY GRIND a lot, and thought the Fortune Teller book was just a bit better than okay. SCONES AND BONES was the book in this series that finally broke the camel's back for me and I quit them after it. The Cat Sitter series has been a favorite of mine and I rated the one you're considering 5-stars. And finally, the Death & Taxes series is great fun! Have enjoyed all of them!

Thank you for your comment and opinion, Melodie! I have read the first two books in the Scumble River series but I didn't like them. Hopefully this new series is better!

Lynne | 86 comments Just finished Brownies and Broomsticks (A Magical Bakery Mystery #1) by Bailey Cates after seeing so many of you talking about it. I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading the second book in the series. I'll either read A Slice of Murder (Pizza Lovers, #1) by Chris Cavender or A Taste of the Nightlife (A Vampire Chef Mystery #1) by Sarah Zettel next.

Do you have to read Leslie Meier books in order? I have been thinking of reading some of hers but didn't really want to read them order since some of the holidays have already past. I also don't think my library has all the books available to download.

I don't think so. I've read some of her books and skipped around with all of them and never had any trouble following anything.

message 983: by Lynne (new)

Lynne | 86 comments Melodie, I'm a vampire junkie also. I'll read almost anything if it has a vampire in it. Now I just have to pick it up from the library tomorrow and start reading! Can't wait!!!

I'm very much a read-in-order person, but I think this series would be ok to skip around. Other than Lucy's personal life -- her kids growing up, friends' lives, etc. -- I don't think there's much in the books that would matter from one book to the next.

Went to the library today and they didn't have any of these books. I guess I will have to wait til I can get to the bookstore! I was so disappointed!

I am thinking of checking Amazon... I can sometimes find books in the first of series for pretty cheap. It is worth a try!

message 988: by Heidi (new)

I try to read series books in order. I made a mistake years ago of trying to read Diane Mott Davidson books out of order. She kept mentioning something that happened in a previous book. It drove me nuts. So I try to read series books in order. I went ahead and checked out Chocolate Covered Murder. I am enjoying it so far. Gosh I have too many books on my Nook to read. I need a vacation.

message 991: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1192 comments Yeah, I think a lot of series DO need to be read in order, because they mention too much about things that happened in previous books. I don't remember that happening much in Leslie Meier's books though.
