Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Katelyn and I have yet to read this book, and I am sure there are others who have not read it yet, so if you have not read it we'd love to have you join us. If you have read it, we'd love to have you join our discussion

Clémentine (clem06) | 82 comments I'm there as well! I've been hearing about this series for ages but still haven't read it, so that's a good opportunity to do so :)
I still have to find the book though.. And I don't know if I have the time to order it online in English (being in France). I'll probably just borrow at the library and read it in French.

Thank you :)
But I'm a terrible person: my mom got me the book from the library yesterday and since I was feeling quite sick and couldn't sleep, I started it yesterday :( Sorry!

No worries! Hope you feel better fast! How do you like it so far?

message 13: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Hi, I am new to the group, but would like to join in on this if I can. I read the first two of this series a couple years back, but forgot much of it when I went to pick up the third. Now seems a perfect time for a re-read.

message 19: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaybee624) I've never done this before! Excited :) so, do we have a set amount we have to read by a certain time, or do we all just read as much as we can? :)

message 20: by Angela (new)

Angela | 17461 comments Kate wrote: "I've never done this before! Excited :) so, do we have a set amount we have to read by a certain time, or do we all just read as much as we can? :)"

You can read at your own pace.

Katelyn (dramanerd08) | 208 comments I haven't done this either its my first one. So discuss once we finish or just make sure we mark spoilers?

Mark spoilers. Not everyone reads at the same pace.

Niámh | 192 comments Can I join

message 27: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Niamh, of course you can join!! The more buddies we have, the better the discussions...usually. Glad to have you aboard!

Katelyn, everyone usually likes to discuss as we go. Maybe I get in the 5th chapter and have something to comment on or to ask a question. Sometimes we'll ask each other for clarification. I personally like to comment as I read because I might get so upset or excited during a certain part that I just HAVE to "talk about it." LOL You do what's comfortable. To me it's much more fun commenting as we go. Just remember to mark the spoilers. I like to say how far it covers, so if I'm in ch. 7 I might say this covers up to ch. 7 so that if you're only in ch. 6 you'd wait to read it.

message 28: by Katelyn (new)

Katelyn (dramanerd08) | 208 comments Okay. Cool sounds good! Thanks for the clarification! It looks like we are going have lots people reading this one with us! Just in time for the Read a thon!

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Kathryn, can you put the ink for the trailer here?

I am SO READY to read this one!!! I've had it for probably a year on my literal shelf at home, on my NEW book case my husband got for me due to all the books I've added since GR. LOL

message 33: by Vicki (new)

Vicki I am enjoying the beginning even though this is a re-read for me I am surprised of how little I remember. I definitely think it grabs you though.

message 34: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I'm just starting the book after dinner. I looked all over my house for it today because I was SURE I had a paperback copy but I found it on my NOOK! Lord help me! Lol

Hugs!

message 38: by Kate (new)

Kate (kaybee624) I'm really enjoying this, although I do think the pace maybe needs to pick up a little now. I just started chapter 12! How are you guys doing? :)

message 39: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Byerly | 3 comments Keep with the series, they are well worth the read. I have read the first four books and can't wait to devour the last two. I also read her Infernal Devices series prior to this one so it was a little easier for me to follow knowing some of the names and especially the character Magnus Bane

message 40: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Sorry guys but I ended up at Bass Lake with 4 grandkids and they've taken up most of my time. I haven't had a chance to read much of this one, but I'll catch up.

Melissa, does Infernal Devices in some way continue this series or story line if it has the same characters?

message 41: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Byerly | 3 comments Vcki, it is more along the lines of a prequel trilogy. It is about Shadowhunters but set in 1800s London. It sets the scene for the Herondale and other surnames that appear in the Mortal Instruments series.

Is it better to read the Infernal Devices series first then?

It really doesn't matter, I just found that I had a point of reference on some of the history behind some of the characters she briefly mentions.
