I was looking for the thread about Zandie Smith's White Teeth, but I can't find it. Maybe I'm getting old, but I could have sworn someone said something about reading this book this month. LOL!

My friend just finished the book and really enjoyed. I have it and really want to read this month but I am in the midst of packing to move so my reading schedule is going to be all over the place.

I understand about sooo many books :)
Please do not wait for me to read this book as not sure what my schedule will be for the next couple of months but I am trying to read it sooner rather than later.

With Trudy all welcome too.
Well , here we go and I have no idea what I will make of this read ;) How the poor girl did n t give in to the urge to run away on her wedding night I have no idea even if she did n t have a bright future to look forward to in Nigeria.

Give me a few more days / a week then I'll be good to go :-)

My copy arrived in the mail this weekend. It's my motivation to get through my current reads. lol
Judy, I don't know about Sugar Queen. I haven't seen a thread on it either.
Zanna, The book of Night Women is sitting on my shelf, waiting for me. LOL. I've been trying to get to it for a while. Maybe I need a buddy read for that one.

Hey if you ladies read the book of night women county me in. I think we did a group read on it a couple of years ago if I'm not mistaking. It's one of my favorites so I'll definitely read it with you ladies.

I too loved The Book of Night Women. One of my all-time favs (but then again I have enjoyed all of Marlon James books :))

Each of his books is a little from each other.
His latest A Brief History of Seven Killings has won or been nominated for many awards and was just about every Best Book of 2014 list. But is a door stopper at about 700 pages.
We can all do a buddy read on it for October if you want. I'm down for reading it again. What you think ladies?
Here is the link for The Book of Night Women Thread for those who want to join this book read next month. If you already read and would just still like to join the discussion please feel free.

I can just see that being used to justify segregation.

Wow that is fascinating! It would be interesting to see if, during desegregation, people used this as an argument for segregation.

Book was REALLY good

I tried to read it before but found it hard to follow. Now that I have a little more time I am willing to read along. Just can't make any promises if I can't get into it so hopefully someone will join in jsut in case I can't finish it.
