Clean Your Shelf -Again! (MMC)
Sapir wrote: "I'm still hesitant to join because I'm afraid to turn down my partner ._.That's the problem when there's a real prize involved."
It's fine Sapir, seriously :) We try to even the partners so everyone has a fair chance. If you are a slower reader then we'll try to pair you with someone who is a little faster. We try to pair people up so that every group has a fair shot at winning. Otherwise, it's just no fun if one group is way ahead or way behind everyone else.
Ok, so I'll join. Can I include books that weren't published yet on my list? I have many ARCs that I need to clean from my shelf.
Sapir wrote: "I don't want to ruin anybody's chances for winning but I want to do this challenge for fun."Dont worry about it and just do it for fun :)
Sapir wrote: "Ok, so I'll join. Can I include books that weren't published yet on my list? I have many ARCs that I need to clean from my shelf."Yes, that's ok :)
Sapir, I agree with everyone, don't worry about the spped of your reading. What I like in this challenge is that it gives me a push to read books that have been sitting around for ages and it also relieves me of the burden of having to choose what to read next.
Tatiana wrote: "Sapir, I agree with everyone, don't worry about the spped of your reading. I want to do this challenge for this very reason - I just can't decide what to read next because I have so many books.
I'm working on my shelf, which is pretty hard because I have to choose 20 books out of... 450? XD
i think im going to do partners at the end of today, instead of tomorrow. but people can still sign up till tomorrow:)
Sapir wrote: "Tatiana wrote: "Sapir, I agree with everyone, don't worry about the spped of your reading. What I like in this challenge is that it gives me a push to read books that have been sitting around for a..."Wow that's a lot of TBRs!!!

Greta wrote: "i think im going to do partners at the end of today, instead of tomorrow. but people can still sign up till tomorrow:)"Yay!I can't wait.
Anybody else feel like they're just waiting for this to start so that they can get reading?! The waiting is torture!
Sarah wrote: "Anybody else feel like they're just waiting for this to start so that they can get reading?! The waiting is torture!"Me! So hard to pick a book that does not count for the challenge! It's funny, when set a book aside for a challenge, you suddenly get an urge to read it
Tatiana wrote: "Sarah wrote: "Anybody else feel like they're just waiting for this to start so that they can get reading?! The waiting is torture!"Me! So hard to pick a book that does not count for the challenge..."
That's why I love challenges. They make me read all those books in my TBR list I've ignored so far.
I keep looking at my tbr and thinking - well that counts for that challenge, and that begins with a 'd' etc. and then don't know what to read now!
Daniela wrote: "Where will you post the pairs list?"I can't remember where Greta put them last time, but the pairs will either be in this thread or the review thread, or possibly even both.
Sarah wrote: "I keep looking at my tbr and thinking - well that counts for that challenge, and that begins with a 'd' etc. and then don't know what to read now!"Lol sorry! I'm making a list of each challenge and then writing down where each book fits as I pick a book. I'm a little bit obsessive about this kind of stuff though. I have to list things and organize them or I'll go crazy.
Jalyn, I'm doing the exact same thing! I have so many lists going and I'm arranging books by date to-read and it's a little nuts :P
Jalyn You and I are similar. I always make lists of challenges and what I'll be reading. I have to admit this: after making a few lists on paper, I decided to make an excel spreadsheet for the challenge. It's just easier that way, and it doesn't have my messy handwriting messing it up.
Excel is amazing, and I also use it to keep track of all the books I buy, even the kindle ones. It is one of the most helpful things ever.
Martha wrote: "Are you allowed to use books that you're planning to use in other challenges too - if they've been on your to-read shelf for a while? So could I use a book for this challenge that I'm also planning..."Yes, you can use a book for multiple challenges...not ure if I had responded to this previously

yikes! I thought my obsessive list making was extreme!Wouldn't have a clue what to do with a spreadsheet!

I wish I was this organized!
Lol I didn't make an excel spreadsheet but I got a piece of paper and wrote down all the books that I'm going to read and what challenges it counted for.

I went to a short excel workshop a few years ago on a visit to a college. I learned how useful excel can be keeping lists organized and I believe one of the instructors mentioned that her son used it to keep a list of his books. So, when I got home, I made one for myself. I'm really grateful for being as weirdly organized as I am (at least in this area).
If you have Windows 8 you can download the free app for OneNote. It's really useful to keep track of challenges :)
@Jessica-Glad it's not just me! I have a page that organizes mine by buddy read date too!@Kaitlin-I like to stick with paper, but I always re-write everything once I have everything settled. Sometimes I have to scratch things out or change dates and it's messy, so later I will write everything out again neatly :)
