Doc | 4 comments I was reading a book a few years ago, put it down, and now I can't find it or remember the author or title.
It was about a planet on which a computer took care of all the messy details. People lived a carefree existence in which they could choose to have their bodies morphed into fantasy creatures. A recidivist faction took control of the computer and the surviving inhabitants had to go back to pre-20th century tech.
The leader of the camp central to the story was Duke Edward [?], a blacksmith.
The book was probably published, in mass market, in the late 20th or early 21st century.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Sue Elleker | 1055 comments I think this is the 'Council Wars' series by John Ringo.
Council Wars
1. There Will Be Dragons (2003)
2. Emerald Sea (2004)
3. Against the Tide (2005)
4. East of the Sun, West of the Moon (2006)

Absolutely right. Thank you!

I note on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_...) that the first book n the series, "There Will Be Dragons," is available in a 2nd edition, published in May 2013, with additional content from John Ringo. The original edition is available free for the Kindle.
I also noticed that the character is Edmund, not Edward.
The Goodreads page to the first book is http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/66...

Thanks again.

Well, I've added it to my Nook Doc. Thanks for suggesting a book I hadn't read by Ringo before. :o) I've also shelved the book and moved this down to Solved for you.
