Rachel Newcomb (rachelita) Hi librarians, my book,
The Gift is available from Barnes & Noble's NOOK store, but on my main Goodreads page, when I click the B&N icon, it goes to the store and says "Sorry, book not found." Is there a way to properly link these? Here's the Nook link from B&N:

Thank you in advance for your help!

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments Get a Copy links (to B&N, Amazon, etc) are tied to the specific identification number of the edition you are viewing on Goodreads. If you are viewing a Kindle edition with an ASIN the only link that will work is the Amazon link, as no other retailer recognizes that ID. If you are viewing a Nook edition with a 294-XXXXXXXXXX number, only the B&N button will work. And so on.

It looks like The Gift has a 294-XXXXXXXXXX number on B&N, so we will need to create another edition for that book. Unfortunately, we can't use B&N as a source for this number, so you as the author will have to provide us with it and then we can make the new edition.

Rachel Newcomb (rachelita) Okay, that makes sense. So do I just have to give you the number here, or is there someplace else to submit it? It looks like the B&N button will still be on the page no matter which edition it is, though, so does that mean if someone is looking at the default page for it, they still won't be clicked through with that button?

Thanks!

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments Here is fine, I've created the new edition: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18...

The links are customized by users, so each user will see different buttons based on the bookstores they choose to shop at. If they have chosen B&N then yes it will remain on the page no matter what edition they are looking at and it will only work on the Nook edition.

Rachel Newcomb (rachelita) Thank you, Vicky, I appreciate it!

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments @Rachel, that Barnes and Noble button is just the current ad/sponsor for that button so will not always be displayed (could be kobo, itunes, google play or whoever buys the ad spot). The other get a copy buttons are customizable by each user so members using Barnes and Noble might have it in their book links.
