Trinity A 48 hour readathon?? Straight through? I would love to do that!

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Sounds great, Mandiann! :)

message 403: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments LOL I doubt I would make it 48 hours, I would definitely be sleeping at night but I would try to read every waking moment in the 48 hours.

message 404: by Mehsi (last edited Jul 02, 2014 10:31AM) (new)

Mehsi I would love to participate, but I don't have vacation time until mid August, so I guess I will just watch again, will see. Depends on the date/time.

And 48 hours? Nope, also not going to happen. My body wouldn't keep up with that. I really need my 8 to 10 hours of sleep. :)

wow, 8 to 10 hours
I'm so jealous. I'm a 5 - 6 hours of sleep kind of person. I'd love to sleep more...if only my body would..... :)

Hopefully you can just jump in when you can in that one! 48 hours IS a long time to be up!

I could never stay up for 48 hours straight but as you said, I would try to read as much as I could while I am awake.

message 407: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments I used to be an 8-10 hour sleeper but since getting a puppy I am lucky if I get 7. Usually I average about 6.

I wish I could sleep less, want to trade? ;)
My body just needs to sleep, I have tried to sleep less, but I just get sick or am overly tired the whole day.

I will probably do that then, just jump in, read a few books while I am around, chat a bit. :)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I usually sleep around 7-8 hours.

Yeah, at times I don't really like my body. :(

message 412: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi So which one will this be? 48 hour or week? I am still thinking of joining, but I would like to know how long it is.

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Mehsi wrote: "So which one will this be? 48 hour or week? I am still thinking of joining, but I would like to know how long it is."

This one that is starting on the 7th of July is a week long. It is through the 13th.

We will be having the 48 hour one sometime in August.

message 414: by Katie (new)

Katie | 1999 comments I have a question about the optional challenge. Do the books need to be five different books, or if you read, for example, a sequel that was published in 2014, could that count for both categories?

message 415: by Mehsi (new)

Mehsi Thanks Jacquelyn. We still have time to sign up for this one?

message 416: by Miodrag ★❥ (last edited Jul 02, 2014 10:53AM) (new)

Miodrag ★❥ | 889 comments I am in and free through whole July and August, and July 7-13 works for me (ahh but I'm so gonna miss my TV Shows, I will need to watch some, can't miss some of them, will just need to cut from 15-20 to 3-5 XD LOL God, I can't miss Witches of East End S2 premiere).
Anyway, I need to read some books for challenges and read-a-thon will really help me XD
but those 24h-48h read-a-thons, no thank you LOL I can only read 1 book, hardly two and I like 7 days long more... but if I get some smaller books, maybe I'll join... oh maybe I'm gonna save those The Grimm Diaries Prequels :P

Miodrag ★❥ | 889 comments @Trish
oh I'm going to watch all my TV shows, that's for sure, I just finished with new episodes of True Blood and Chasing Life and S2 premiere of Under the Dome and series premiere of The Leftovers. LOL I got already planned what to watch tmr. Movies, I'll still waiting to get some and I am going to finish Opal, as I said and Outlander, don't think so, but if I don't finish it, I will just put it on hold and continue reading after read-a-thon :D

@Vicki
ahh what to say, I love you guys, I love this group and I love all those challenges. :P Now, I cannot wait to start working on my to-read list for read-a-thon. *_*

I'm excited for you to do this read-a-thon. It's your first one, right?

As for all the TV programs you watch, I understand! I watch different ones but I have a very hard time watching all of them AND reading. Do you Tivo or DVR them? That's what I do and then I watch them without commercials so that the hour long shows are only 45 minutes. I DON'T watch as much TV as I used to though.

Nope, this is my third read-a-thon :D

I usually watch TV shows from 8pm to 12am every night (I started watching like this earlier last month), sometimes I add one movie there, it's like my entertaining time, just TV shows and movies. :P Yep, it's hard reading and watching TV shows/movie, but now I like this, on day I read books and evening is for TV shows/movie... and if there is one book that's really good, I 'cancel' TV shows/movie night and read that book instead. XD
I don't watch any TV shows live, I used to watch one or two, but those commercials, that's just too much. That's why I watch my shows next day or couple of days after premiere.

message 432: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Me too, Mio! I RARELY watch live shows! If I do, I mute the commercials and read. I might watch 3-4 hours straight once a month. I also love the Lifetime movies!

message 433: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments I'm really confused. Is this a 24 hour readathon or a week long?

One that's starting next week is a week long, and 24 (or 48 hour?) one is planned for August. ;)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) I am too tired to look over all the threads to see if this is already answered, but: Can we count pages from books we started reading before the read-a-thon started, but just count the pages read *during* the RAT, not the entire book? Same goes for books we start during the RAT but that we do not finish in time.

Thanks!

message 439: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Yes, you can count those pages in your total page count read for the week. You can not claim points for those pages though.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) Cool, thanks!

message 441: by Trina (new)

Trina (trinabetweenchapters) May I count any points for the new Harry Potter short story? (Dumbledore's Army Reunites At Quidditch World Cup Final) Would it fall under the prequel/manga category?

message 442: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Trina, yes it would fall under the prequel/manga category. :)

message 443: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Gray Is there going to be another 24 hr. Read-a-thon anytime soon?

message 444: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Olivia wrote: "Is there going to be another 24 hr. Read-a-thon anytime soon?"

I think that there will either be one of those or a 48 hour readathon during a weekend sometime in August.

message 445: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Gray Sweet!!

message 446: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Alright, guys! :D

I need your help. Do you guys want a 24 or 48 hour readathon?

If it was a 48 hour one it would be August 9th and 10th. If it was a 24 hour one it could be either of these dates.

Do you guys like one idea better than the other?

message 447: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments I think 48 hours! That way it would be more flexible for people who want to participate but have other things going on and we'd have more time.

I have a question too. Will there be optional challenges like the last readathon?

message 448: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Alright. So we have a vote for 48 hour one. :) Thanks.

I think there will be. I will hopefully be making up a list of them soon once I find out if we are doing a 24 or 48 hour one.

message 449: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments Cool! Thanks so much for organizing these. The last one was a lot of fun! :)

message 450: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments No problem. I love organizing these! Glad you had fun last time! Just be ready to read on Saturday/Sunday or both!! :D
