LOL I doubt I would make it 48 hours, I would definitely be sleeping at night but I would try to read every waking moment in the 48 hours.
I would love to participate, but I don't have vacation time until mid August, so I guess I will just watch again, will see. Depends on the date/time.And 48 hours? Nope, also not going to happen. My body wouldn't keep up with that. I really need my 8 to 10 hours of sleep. :)

wow, 8 to 10 hours
I'm so jealous. I'm a 5 - 6 hours of sleep kind of person. I'd love to sleep more...if only my body would..... :)
Hopefully you can just jump in when you can in that one! 48 hours IS a long time to be up!
Mandiann wrote: "LOL I doubt I would make it 48 hours, I would definitely be sleeping at night but I would try to read every waking moment in the 48 hours."I could never stay up for 48 hours straight but as you said, I would try to read as much as I could while I am awake.
I used to be an 8-10 hour sleeper but since getting a puppy I am lucky if I get 7. Usually I average about 6.

I wish I could sleep less, want to trade? ;)
My body just needs to sleep, I have tried to sleep less, but I just get sick or am overly tired the whole day.
I will probably do that then, just jump in, read a few books while I am around, chat a bit. :)

Aw, sorry to hear that! :(
So which one will this be? 48 hour or week? I am still thinking of joining, but I would like to know how long it is.
Mehsi wrote: "So which one will this be? 48 hour or week? I am still thinking of joining, but I would like to know how long it is."This one that is starting on the 7th of July is a week long. It is through the 13th.
We will be having the 48 hour one sometime in August.
I have a question about the optional challenge. Do the books need to be five different books, or if you read, for example, a sequel that was published in 2014, could that count for both categories?
I am in and free through whole July and August, and July 7-13 works for me (ahh but I'm so gonna miss my TV Shows, I will need to watch some, can't miss some of them, will just need to cut from 15-20 to 3-5 XD LOL God, I can't miss Witches of East End S2 premiere).Anyway, I need to read some books for challenges and read-a-thon will really help me XD
but those 24h-48h read-a-thons, no thank you LOL I can only read 1 book, hardly two and I like 7 days long more... but if I get some smaller books, maybe I'll join... oh maybe I'm gonna save those The Grimm Diaries Prequels :P

Mehsi wrote: "Thanks Jacquelyn. We still have time to sign up for this one?"Yes, until the 6th of July. :)

You know, I love read-a-thon so much, now I need to do something with Outlander, I started with this book yesterday and I totally love it and I am also reading Opal and I love this one too, I don't know how I'm going to finish those 2 books, watch all my TV shows, maybe watch some movies.... Lord, HELP ME! XD And one week to put Outlander on rest, ahh I think I will need to do this... because I can't do everything! :) I will finish Opal till the end of this week.Cannot wait for next week, then! :P <3
Jacquelyn wrote: "With so many people, it is very hard to get a week or even a day that works for everyone. If I could, I would make it a week that no one has any big plans but that is nearly impossible. I think I..."
That sounds great, too! :o)

Jacquelyn wrote: "Yes, until the 6th of July. :)"Oh great, then I will make my decision tomorrow/day after tomorrow. :)

@Trishoh I'm going to watch all my TV shows, that's for sure, I just finished with new episodes of True Blood and Chasing Life and S2 premiere of Under the Dome and series premiere of The Leftovers. LOL I got already planned what to watch tmr. Movies, I'll still waiting to get some and I am going to finish Opal, as I said and Outlander, don't think so, but if I don't finish it, I will just put it on hold and continue reading after read-a-thon :D
@Vicki
ahh what to say, I love you guys, I love this group and I love all those challenges. :P Now, I cannot wait to start working on my to-read list for read-a-thon. *_*

I'm excited for you to do this read-a-thon. It's your first one, right?
As for all the TV programs you watch, I understand! I watch different ones but I have a very hard time watching all of them AND reading. Do you Tivo or DVR them? That's what I do and then I watch them without commercials so that the hour long shows are only 45 minutes. I DON'T watch as much TV as I used to though.
Vicki wrote: "Miodrag wrote: "@Trishoh I'm going to watch all my TV shows, that's for sure, I just finished with new episodes of True Blood and Chasing Life and S2 premiere of Under the Dome and series premiere..."
Nope, this is my third read-a-thon :D
I usually watch TV shows from 8pm to 12am every night (I started watching like this earlier last month), sometimes I add one movie there, it's like my entertaining time, just TV shows and movies. :P Yep, it's hard reading and watching TV shows/movie, but now I like this, on day I read books and evening is for TV shows/movie... and if there is one book that's really good, I 'cancel' TV shows/movie night and read that book instead. XD
I don't watch any TV shows live, I used to watch one or two, but those commercials, that's just too much. That's why I watch my shows next day or couple of days after premiere.
Me too, Mio! I RARELY watch live shows! If I do, I mute the commercials and read. I might watch 3-4 hours straight once a month. I also love the Lifetime movies!
Jessica wrote: "I'm really confused. Is this a 24 hour readathon or a week long?"One that's starting next week is a week long, and 24 (or 48 hour?) one is planned for August. ;)

<3 You're welcome! ^_^
I am too tired to look over all the threads to see if this is already answered, but: Can we count pages from books we started reading before the read-a-thon started, but just count the pages read *during* the RAT, not the entire book? Same goes for books we start during the RAT but that we do not finish in time. Thanks!
Yes, you can count those pages in your total page count read for the week. You can not claim points for those pages though.
May I count any points for the new Harry Potter short story? (Dumbledore's Army Reunites At Quidditch World Cup Final) Would it fall under the prequel/manga category?
Olivia wrote: "Is there going to be another 24 hr. Read-a-thon anytime soon?"I think that there will either be one of those or a 48 hour readathon during a weekend sometime in August.
Alright, guys! :DI need your help. Do you guys want a 24 or 48 hour readathon?
If it was a 48 hour one it would be August 9th and 10th. If it was a 24 hour one it could be either of these dates.
Do you guys like one idea better than the other?
I think 48 hours! That way it would be more flexible for people who want to participate but have other things going on and we'd have more time.I have a question too. Will there be optional challenges like the last readathon?
Alright. So we have a vote for 48 hour one. :) Thanks. I think there will be. I will hopefully be making up a list of them soon once I find out if we are doing a 24 or 48 hour one.
