:( That stinks! Well, more time to read! You'll be sick of reading by the time your ankle is better!

I'm so sorry, canceling vacation is tough. :(

message 210: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Thx Trisha :) It's only for 3 weeks. Yeah and that trip was supposed to be my birthday present from my parents.

message 211: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments well, hopefully we can brighten one day with a read-a-thon. :)

and maybe a buddy read or two ? :)

message 212: by Gisbelle (last edited Dec 25, 2013 07:39PM) (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments lol yeah, sounds awesome! I only have one buddy read in January so far.

Crystal (pageturner51) | 21 comments If it's alright, I'd like to join the readathon! I have Sunday off, and I've never done one before!

message 215: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Guys, I thought of something and I need your thoughts on it.

I was wondering about doing a week long readathon. It would be much less hectic and we could get much more reading done!

What do you think? I just always get tired in the 24 hour ones and end up falling asleep and not reading. :/ LOL!

message 216: by Angela (new)

Angela | 17461 comments A week is pretty long, but I guess that could be good. I won't be able to participate though. :(

message 217: by [deleted user] (new)

A week? How would that actually work?

message 218: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Okay, and aww, Angela! :(

Lindsey, it would just be try to read more than you normally do in one week. You don't have to stay up into early hours of the night or anything. You just read when you can and you try to push yourself to read more than usual.

Just let me know. It was an idea but I am not so sure myself.

message 219: by [deleted user] (new)

I think it would be fun. Maybe even set a goal!

message 220: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Lindsey wrote: "I think it would be fun. Maybe even set a goal!"

Okay, thanks for the feedback! Yeah for week long ones I would probably set an average page amount for each day for myself! (:

message 221: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments That sounds great :)

message 222: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I am glad you like the idea, Gisbelle! I think it would be less stressful and hectic.

Any weeks that work particularly well? I will have to check my schedule!

message 223: by [deleted user] (new)

For me it would have to be sometime in January before the semester starts to get really busy.

message 224: by Angela (new)

Angela | 17461 comments Lindsey wrote: "For me it would have to be sometime in January before the semester starts to get really busy."

Ditto.

message 225: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments If we had to do it in January then I would have to do this next week. (1/13/14)

message 226: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments I'm good whenever. I'm normally busy only in the afternoons, so I can't read in the mornings and in the evenings.

message 227: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I can do 1/13-1/19.

Is this too soon?

message 228: by Angela (new)

Angela | 17461 comments I think the only free time I have is the last week of January, because the following week is a new semester.

message 229: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Last week of January is super hectic for me but if we have to do that we can! (:

message 230: by Angela (new)

Angela | 17461 comments You can do what works for you guys. I don't think I'll be able to read much anyway.

message 231: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Angela (: wrote: "You can do what works for you guys. I don't think I'll be able to read much anyway."

Well we shall see. (: I'll take everyone's feedbacks and use the one that is preferred the most. We won't be able to make everyone happy but that is life!

message 232: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 10, 2014 06:31PM) (new)

I'm good with next week. Classes for me start on 1/22/14 but the first two weeks are usually not so busy and I can still read a lot or at least a good amount.

I'm good really for any week.

message 233: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Okay! Thanks for your feedback. (:

message 234: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I love the idea of one week, but I'd not get much more read because I work all week. Still it would be fun!

message 235: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Yeah, as long as you're having fun! (:

message 236: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments True that!

Do you know what's going on with the upgrades? It was SO cool a couple days ago the whole appearance of the threads was different on my phone! Cool fonts, pretty blue colors, I could OPEN & READ spoilers!!! On my phone!!!! That lasted an hour or so and I opened ONE thread today that was like that. It was so much better. I'm sad it's not still like that! Almost depressed! Lol Well, let's say frustrated!

message 237: by Trisha, lives on coffee (last edited Jan 10, 2014 07:39PM) (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments I'm in for next week....

can you think of any games or daily check ins we can do? last read-a-thon I was so lonely :)

I think I might have been the only one to update my reading list.....

message 238: by Gisbelle (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Daily check ins and chat will make it more fun :)

message 239: by [deleted user] (new)

I think daily check ins and a chat will be fun too.

I was sad I missed the last one. :(

Vicki - all the updates have been bugging me. At times I can't even use my app.

Me too, but IF they get if finalized and IF they include how it was set up a couple days ago, I think everyone will be really happy how we can use our phones now. I'm wondering if what I got was a fluke now. LOL

I don't know but I would love to be able to open spoilers.

Yeah, I think I might make some challenges people can choose to do. We can think of games and daily check ins! :D

message 244: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 7669 comments I like the idea of doing it for a week! And I could start anytime!

I'm really looking forward to this one! :D

message 245: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Awesome! The sign up will be going up momentarily! (:

message 246: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Might be too late for this one as you're starting tomorrow (which I think I'll probably join you) but when I've done similar things in other groups it's more interesting when there is some kind of challenge or theme .... whether that's for the whole week or daily ones it doesn't really matter.

message 247: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Well I was thinking of doing daily challenges! I am just having a difficult time thinking of them.

Would you want them to be challenges just having to do with books overall or challenges having to do with the readathon itself?

message 248: by Lynn (new)

Lynn Is there a difference? Sorry if I'm being dumb but not sure what you mean.

With short notice, only told on the day challenges I know I wouldn't be able to cope with 'read this kind of book / genre' type of thing. I have limited time because of work so would need to plan that kind of challenge.

However if its something like 'take a photo of an object irl, that's described in your book' or a mini scavenger hunt like 'find 5 things in the book that you would associate with the colour red' then that would be more doable with no notice.
(I know those are a bit lame but didn't really have time to think about it)

message 249: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Sorry, I myself wasn't sure if that was going to make sense.

For example, I was thinking of doing Book Poetry for one day and you would use books from your TBR for the readathon and make a poem using the titles of some of the books! And then in the middle of the readathon I was going to have a mid-event survey.

I have a few more ideas! :D

message 250: by Angela (new)

Angela | 17461 comments Book Poetry is cute. I've seen that done before.
