Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments our teacher is deaf. there are five of us who are hearing who sign together once a week, plus we have class once a week and then the five of us and the teacher get together outside of class every month or two.

message 152: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments That's great! I miss the deaf community I used to be involved with. My sister was engaged to a deaf man, but they ended up splitting up. Their methods of getting attention when in a private place are so interesting. I wish more people had real time with deaf people!

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments I think one of my favourite classes was one where we needed to communicate something to the class but couldn't use sign, speech or write. we could only use gestures to make ourselves understood. it was very difficult.

message 174: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I can only do Sun! What should we do? I do not want anyone to be left out!

message 175: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments Hmmmm....the 1st sounds like it works good.
for at least a few of us.......

message 176: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I can't do the 1st but if it works for everyone else I can set it up for you guys!

message 177: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 7669 comments Sunday is fine. I'll just come in late! :D

message 178: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments So I think we are just wondering whether to do the 29th or the 1st!

message 179: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 7669 comments either day is good for me. :)

message 180: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Well if it is possible I would prefer and can only do the 29th!

So Trisha & Kathy, this is good for you, right?

Vicki, is this date okay?

message 181: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments Yay! I'm in for the 29th. :D
and definitely, the readathon can be a 12 hour or 18 hour or optional hour - etc, right? Can we pick our "readathon" hour amount? Do you mind, Jacquelyn?

message 182: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Well I am doing a 24 hour one but you guys can definitely pick an hour amount and I will set up the retardation for that amount of time instead of 24! Do you want 12 or 18?

message 183: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Retardation? LOL what does that mean?

message 184: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments OMG This Kindle Fire changes my words and I forget to read it over. Wow! Sorry! It meant to say readathon! LOL!

message 185: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Trisha | 30284 comments well, I plan to try for the 24 hour too

I just thought maybe others might want to specify a shorter time :)

message 186: by Kathy (last edited Dec 25, 2013 12:38PM) (new)

Kathy | 7669 comments Sounds good to me!

I'm just so glad to be able to join this time! Yay!! :D

message 187: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments I should be okay to join in on the 29th for most of the 24 hours.

message 188: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Okay, so are we set on the 29th? For anyone not planning on the 24 hours, how long would you like me to make the readathon?

message 189: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Okay, I was thinking about this. I think I am just going to keep it as a 24 hour readathon and if you want to participate but can only do 12 or 18 hours (or whatever is good for you) then when you are posting your time zone include the duration of time you will be doing! This way no one will get confused. Does this sound good?

message 190: by Trinity (new)

Trinity That sounds good, Jacquelyn!! I am so excited, I can't wait!!!

message 191: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Gisbelle | 25787 comments Thx hon. I have a cast on and it doesn't hurt much now. So that's a good sign, I guess :) Besides, now that I literally cannot go anywhere, it gives me time to read *trying to look at the bright side* :D
