Hello Jessica!

Only books started and finished during the read-a-thon count for points. But it does still count towards your # of pages read total :)

Maria | 786 comments First time to hear a read-a-thon so i got questions.
1. When you say 24 hours... you mean no sleep? for as long as the challenge last? Im might not have understood that part.

2.Now about the page count, we count the real books pages or the e-books, because i have access only to e-books.

3. This one is because i dont know the meaning... (or at least i think i dont) of the word sequel . Does that mean the second-third etc. book in a series or something else?

4.Do i have to start at midnight or can i start the challenge any time i want, after the begining ,of course, of the read-a-thon?

5. the goal of this challenge is to read as many books i can, non stop or to gather the most points by reading books?

6. I want to be in the august read-a-thon, but tommorow in the morning, i have made plans to go to the beach with a friend and of course im not counceling, so is it ok to start the challenge after i come back?

Thats all i got for now, if anything presents it self later on, i'll ask.

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Hello, Maria!

1. The current readathon is a week long but yes, we have had some 24 hour readathons. Some people decide to stay up and read for 24 hours but most people decide to take breaks and get some sleep. :) Totally up to you!

2. For page count, once you are done reading your ebook, look the book up on Goodreads and use the page count it has there.

3. Yes, that's what sequel means! It's basically any book that's part of a series but NOT the first book of that series.

4. You can start the readathon anytime you want! You do not have to stay up until midnight to start.

5. The main goal is to just have fun! Most people in our group are quite competitive (;)) so we are all trying to read as many books as possible so we can rack up lots of points! :D

6. That's totally fine! We are 15 hours into the readathon at the moment but you can hop in whenever! Hope you have an amazing time at the beach.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I would be glad to help!

Thanks, that is what I thought.

message 609: by Linsey (new)

Linsey Does the Readathon last through Sunday? Or is it over on Saturday once it hits midnight?

message 610: by Linsey (new)

Linsey When is there going to be another readathon? I really enjoyed participating in my first readathon!I loved the Bingo game with the readathon too.

message 611: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments The readathon it is over today (if it's August 16 where you live). It is 9:18 PM here so it was over at 9:00 for me. On the east coast it was over at midnight, but I don't know about where you live.

We do readathons a few times a year usually, but sometimes just over a weekend. But the mods will need to answer in order for an accurate answer.

I had fun too! I had more fun with the Mad Libs than Bingo because I couldn't make a card and mark my spot like others did, so it was a little frustrating for me to keep up with it. But I had a really fun time!

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Hi Linsey,

We usually do readathons every few months. We can't say exactly when but the next will probably be in late fall/early winter.

Carrianne (xcarrieex) I'm sorry if someone already asked this, but how would we tally points for a collection of prequels/novellas? The Assassin's Blade, for example.

You can count each prequel separately.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Hey, Jacque!! How are you???

How would I count Oblivion (Lux, #1.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout ? It's 350 pages so is it still counted as a prequel or more of a sequel? LOL

I'm reading that right now, so that would be good to know! I never even thought of it until now!

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I'm doing well, Vicki! Been reading like crazy today. :) Hope you are doing great too!

message 624: by Lora (new)

Lora (liesaluise) So I read The Tales of Beedle the Bard; is it a Prequel or a Stand alone or xyz?! :D

message 625: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Liesa wrote: "So I read The Tales of Beedle the Bard; is it a Prequel or a Stand alone or xyz?! :D"

I'd count it as a standalone.

message 626: by Lora (new)

Lora (liesaluise) Okay thanks that's what I did

Lindsay♫SingerOfStories♫ (lindsaysingerofstories) | 183 comments This has probably been answered somewhere but...is there a minimum page number requirement in order for books to count? I know there is a point options for books with >100 pages but is there a bottom line? TIA!

message 628: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Nope, read books of any length! If the book is under 100 pages, you get 1 point and the larger the book, the more points you get. There is no minimum page requirement. :)

message 629: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Would The Bane Chronicles be considered a Standalone?

I would consider it as so, yes.

Trisha | 30284 comments YES!!! I was just thinking about another one!
I have books to catch up on

What do you guys think about a read-a-thon during: June 19th - June 25??

It's the first week I don't have a camp and before my vacation.

message 633: by Lora (new)

Lora (liesaluise) Good one! My last day of school this year before the summer break is the 22nd

message 634: by Linsey (new)

prag ♻ (janayanation) Hey, I just saw this, and it looks like so much fun! I'm not signing up for it because I'll be on vacation and I don't know if I'll have time to check in, or even read that week:( Anyway, are you guys going to do it ever again? Let me reiterate: this looks like the best challenge I've ever done/ seen before. I would love to do this. The timing sucks, but if you ever do it again, I will definitely join in.

message 638: by prag ♻ (new)

prag ♻ (janayanation) Ooh, I fished around some and I figured it's a yearly thing, is it?

Most years we do it more than once. We probably average around 3-4 times per year. :)

message 648: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments I finished reading my movie book, which was about 3/4 of the entire book. I know I can't count points for it but that I can count pages. In my books read count, may I count that as "books read"?

message 649: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Another question also based on my book above that I read nearly 300 pages of today but had already read 125. May I use it for the BINGO game, or is it excluded since I'd already read some of it prior to today?

message 650: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments ANOTHER question! LOL If I read a book (which I did) The Shattered Mountain I count it as a novella, correct? It's not actually a "sequel." I think that's how Jacquelyn had determined we should record these extras.
