Trisha | 30284 comments I'm good for any of those days.... :)

message 502: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Great! Thanks for your input, Trisha.

message 503: by Trinity (new)

Trinity Woohoo! Another readathon! I am good with any day you all pick. :)

message 504: by ★ℕłℂØℓҾ★ (Nix), snowflakes and eyelashes (new)

★ℕłℂØℓҾ★ (Nix) (ladyknightnix) | 4549 comments I'd prefer the weeklong ones, but I'm also good with any of those days for a 24-hour. Do you get points for pages in books not completed during the 24 hours or do you have to finish the book(s)?

Well this one will be a 24 hour one since there's lots of things going on with holidays and such but a week long will be the first type we do in 2015. You must finish books to be able to get the points.

message 507: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Jacquelyn, i'm on my cell phone so I can't read the dates that you're thinking about for the read-a-Thon unless I click back to the very front page and scroll down which is what, probably hundreds or thousands of messages? LOL can you tell me the dates that you are considering for the it? Thanks!

message 508: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments LOL. Sure!

So we have:

24 HR on December 27
24 HR on December 28
24 HR on December 29

message 509: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Okay, for me the best date would probably be the 27th but I will be on vacation so I could probably do the other days as well but I have church on Sunday and then on that Monday I don't really know what's going on yet. LOL but as of right now the 27th looks best to me

message 510: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments That's what most people are saying as well. As of now, it seems like that will be the date but nothing is for sure yet.

message 511: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Okay :)

message 512: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments Unfortunately I won't know my work schedule until really close to the dates but the 29th would probably work best because I usually work a lot on weekends. But if the other dates work better for everyone else I could probably fit in some reading. Have you considered maybe doing a 48 hour readathon or will it definitely be a 24?

message 513: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments I think it would definitely be a 24. 48 hour readathons are awkward to set up and I think people may be more motivated with half the time to read.

Unfortunately, it seems that most people like the 27th more though so we shall see.

message 514: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments 27 or 28 is best for me!!

message 515: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Alright. Most people are saying 27 so maybe we don't need a poll.

I am starting to think 27th may be our official date.

message 516: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments Unfortunately no date works for everyone, so it's good to go with a day that works for most people.

message 517: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Exactly. I try to make it work for as many people as possible.

message 518: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 31156 comments :o) I know you do. I feel bad when it doesn't work for some people, but that's unavoidable. I've been in week long readathons where I only read one book because it was a bad time for me. LOL I say just read what you can during that time period, if possible to read at all.

message 519: by Alexa (new)

Alexa | 925 comments Thinking of actually PARTICIPATING in a readathon :-D woop, 27th works for me as well!!

Exactly. I always feel bad when people can't participate but it's impossible to get a date that works for EVERYONE.

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Alexa wrote: "Thinking of actually PARTICIPATING in a readathon :-D woop, 27th works for me as well!!"

YAY!

message 522: by Danni (new)

Danni (luciepurr) | 206 comments The 27th works best with me too, any later dates would be harder to do as I have to go away.

Jessica (Goldenfurpro) (goldenfurproductions) | 1020 comments Any day is fine with me. I'm off of school from Dec 11th all the way to Jan 20th and my work correlates to when school is in session, so whatever works for everyone else is fine with me!

I just have to hope that my Aunt doesn't ask for me to babysit on that day...

message 524: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Danni, that's great! :D

Jessica, awesome. Crossing my fingers for you!

It looks like 27th is the date. I will be posting more information and maybe some challenges soon. ;)

message 525: by Dory (new)

Dory (fishthatreads) | 359 comments I just stumbled upon this and im extremely frustrated. Im on a long-time-no-see holiday with family on all three days, plus one after. :(

I really would want to do/try this.

message 526: by Mandiann (new)

Mandiann (goodreadscommandiann) | 6882 comments Sorry you can't join this one. I am sure we will be doing another in a few months.

message 527: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Aw, I'm sorry you can't participate! We have one every couple months or so so just keep your eyes peeled for the next one!

Sorry, Dory, but I hope you enjoy your family event!

message 529: by Dory (new)

Dory (fishthatreads) | 359 comments Yeah, Ill probably still do it, but do other stuff too. Sign me up, Ill still read :) At least i can try :)

YAY! That's the spirit! :o) Even if you read one short book you'll still feel part of the action. Good luck! :o)

message 531: by Dory (new)

Dory (fishthatreads) | 359 comments You too!

Just an idea. What if there was a Read-a-thon where groups compete against one another? That could be cool.

Cant wait for the next one.

message 532: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments Dory, do you mean to see which group can get more points? That could be an interesting idea.

message 533: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Dory, please officially sign up here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... with your time zone.

Also, that's an interesting idea but would be pretty hard to organize. I'll see what I can do but if it does happen, it won't be for a few months.

message 534: by Dory (new)

Dory (fishthatreads) | 359 comments Awesome.

message 535: by Danni (new)

Danni (luciepurr) | 206 comments Are we having another readathon any time soon?

message 536: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Probably in another month or two! :D

message 537: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments Any idea when a new readathon will be? :)

message 538: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Hmm, I would say maybe another month/month and a half? I am really busy with school right now but I think it would be better than. Maybe around spring break which is at the end of March.

Jessica (Goldenfurpro) (goldenfurproductions) | 1020 comments Are we having another readathon soon?
I have some books saved up for it that I would like to read...

message 540: by Jacquelyn, thebrunettebooknerd (new)

Jacquelyn (jacquelynreads) | 18790 comments Most likely either very late April or May. April is very busy for me so I will update you when I have a better idea on when I can host.

message 541: by Bella Rose (new)

Bella Rose Jones (saralovesreading4) | 28 comments i would also enjoy a read a thon! i need help reaching my goal of 100 books by the end of the year! wednesdays would work best for me if possible

message 542: by Danielle ♥ (new)

Danielle ♥ (readwithmedani) | 9 comments When is the next read-a-thon!? I would love one in May :)

message 543: by Linsey (new)

Linsey When you participate in read a thons do you have to read nonstop the entire time or can you stop when you ever you need too. This sounds like so much fun, but I just don't know if I can read nonstop. I read a long time every day, but I usually take breaks in between. Is it okay to take breaks during a read a thon?

message 544: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 729 comments Linsey, you can read as much or as little as you want to! There are no rules concerning breaks or anything. So whenever you feel like reading during the readathon, read. :)

message 545: by Erin (new)

Erin (eisawesome) Is there a limit on the number of pages the book has to be?

message 546: by Linsey (new)

Linsey Jessica wrote: "Linsey, you can read as much or as little as you want to! There are no rules concerning breaks or anything. So whenever you feel like reading during the readathon, read. :)"

Thanks for responding to my questions. I can't wait to participate in my very first Read a thon!

Trisha | 30284 comments Erin wrote: "Is there a limit on the number of pages the book has to be?"

No, no page requirement

if you are going for points, only matters if it's a sequel and/or prequel!

message 548: by Linsey (new)

Linsey Can you read any type of books during the Read a thon or can it only be young adult books?

message 549: by Trisha, lives on coffee (new)

Yay! I hope you can join us Linsey!
Yes, absolutely! Breaks are encouraged! I think you'll read more if you snack, take breaks, walk around, chat with us :D
