Daniel Tammet
Autobiographical memoir (up to when author was 26-27)

I for one have a very personal connection to this book because I can relate to his thought processes that he writes about very strongly. This book stands out from other "autiebiographies" because the author has savant skills. Like most autistics, I do not have such skills myself. However, I still found a kindred spirit in Daniel. Before reading his story, I hadn't found anyone whose thought processes were so similar to mine and I felt so isolated because of being autistic. Daniel taught me that there were positives to being autistic and I could use them to my advantage. He has been a special interest of mine for the last four and a half years. I feel like I owe him something for all that I've learned about myself because of his story.
