Susan Bright I just read One For The Money. I have heard people talking about Janet Evanovich for years so I decided to give her a try and start with the first book in the series. I went the audio book route and yes it was laugh out loud funny at times. The book was short and entertaining, but just ok. I was expecting more but plan to give Stephanie Plum another chance and read number 2.

Ruthie Pennington I loved this series, it was a quick easy read that kept me totally entertained. I read them when I was in College so I needed something light and fun that I didn't have to think about a lot. As I got more into them I loved them more, they can get a bit redundant but who doesn't love a light, laught out loud book every once in a while! I have read them all and I love when the new ones come out. I hope you enjoy the rest of them!

Emily I am totally enjoying this series. I can read a book in 24 hours. It's light, it's fun and I love laughing out loud!

Metramsk1 The movie is coming out in 2012

Emily So excited!

Kayla As with any series, some books are better than others. I don't think Janet really got into the groove of things until the second or third book. As far as the movie, I think they could have chosen a better father for Stephanie, just saying.

But I do love the series. My bff and I are constantly debating: Ranger or Morelli.

Emily Ranger or Morelli...that is a tough debate...how about both?

Susan Bright We would love to hear from some of you Stephanie Plum fans!

Lola @Susan: You will love the rest of the series. Janet has a comedic timing unlike any other author I've read. I hope you do enjoy 2 - 17 (and soon 18).

However, I do suggest skipping the between the number series (Plum Spooky, Plum Lucky, etc.) They just weren't quite up to par, imho.

Komal I started this series in the summer and finished the whole thing (at least up to 17) as quick as I could. I absolutely adore this series :)

Alice I just watched the movie trailer, and it look really good..loved LULA

John My Girlfriend got me started reading Janet Evanovich's book series Stephanie Plum. I loved the first book and purchased the second and look forward to read it. I also saw the trailer for the first book and plan on taking my girlfriend to see the movie.

Ashley Smith I love these books. There an easyread and laugh out loud funny. Plus Ranger and Morelli are both hottt! I absoulty love grandma in this book and lula. Heck I love all the charter's. Just wait til you meet Sally Sweet! Just plain good reading.

Alice Sally Sweet is my hands down fave of the recurring characters! Named my iPod after Sally

Janae Emily wrote: "Ranger or Morelli...that is a tough debate...how about both?"

I loved them both and I'm still in the series! Although she's leaning toward __ I really think that she should have both!

Bex love these books, i am a little behind on the series so looking forward to catching up, can not wait to see the movie, really hope they have managed to capture the magic within the characters as they are brilliant and bring the books to life.

Back in 1999, I actually started the series with Book 4 (audio book) and then went to the library to check out the remaining books and read most of them in a few days (they're just a quick and easy read) and have been reading them ever since. When I need to laugh, I'll pick up one of the books.

Lynn Mitra I picked up the first in the series. It is such a hoot! I love the characters! I often find myself casting actresses for the roles- especially the grandmother! How much fun!

I totally agree. The grandmother is great!

Debbie Reynolds plays the grandmother.

Hello there, Susan!

My mother made me promise to read more than just One for the Money. I needed something funny to read. Something other than paramormal novels.

I read One for the Money. Semi funny. Was NOT impressed. Keeping my promise, I read Two for the Dough. It's better by 200%. Now Three to get Deadly is when things become hilarious. If you want funny, mysterious and exciting moments of hello! .. Please continue reading these books.

Grandma rocks! The basement scene when she comes out of the frozen casket was tear wrenching FUNNY! My husband complained, "I'm trying to sleep! You keep waking me up laughing!"

Great and brilliant stuff :)

Vinyessa I adore this series. Its so repetitive but whenever I pick up a new one, its usually done within a couple of days, and I usually have to read 3 of them in a row to get my fix...this woman is rich as all hell!! Kudos to her...

Vinyessa I just watched the trailer....Katherine Hegil...eww. Never liked her, wouldn't have pictured her as Steph Plum. Joe Morelli is supposed to be hotter or as hot as Ranger, which is not the case in this film. Ranger wins ten folds...

message 28: by Lynn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lynn Mitra I agree- two and three much better than one- the characters are so funny! I have only read the first three- I am saving them like a dessert!

Carmen Is there a movie?? When is it coming out?

Vinyessa Carmen wrote: "Is there a movie?? When is it coming out?"

Jan 2012.

Carmen Thank you.

Rachelle Probably my favourite series to read, Grandma Mazur is the best and who wouldnt want Stephanie as her bff.
Not sure about the movie though, Katherine Heigl is the last person I could see as being Stephanie.

DianeE I've enjoyed the entire series. When Stephanie's cars are demolished I am laughing so hard during the train wreck of events leading to the latest cars demise I always end up having to go back and reread it.
Lulu has been with her many times when one of her cars was as always totaled beyond any chance of a repair. Her comments and Stephanie's inner dialogue are hilarious.

Tigger My mother has been telling me to read the Janet Evanovich books for ages. I often ignored my mother's suggestions. Someone else suggested it and I heard about the movie...so I figured I would give it a shot! I have friends hooked on them now, and I can't put them down. Just when I get disappointed that the book is nearing the end, I have to smile because I know there is the next book to pick up and read! Are the In Between the Numbers books just as fun?

message 35: by Brenda (last edited Nov 29, 2011 11:25PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Brenda Kirton For any one who has the audio books take note, the ones before seven up are abridged (at least that is all i could find) I f you have just listened to those you are missing bunch of the good stuff. i have read all her books and i agree the between the numbers books are not as great as the regular ones.

Rachael So excited about the movie. :)

message 37: by Dawn (new) - added it

Dawn I love these books. I am on #7 now. I am looking forward to the movie, but would have casted differently.

Lynn Paris I wasn't to sure about this book at first. But, I really haven't been putting it down much. This book is just what I needed.. A laugh here and there. A nice light fast pace book. I think I will give two for the dough a shot. =)

Carole I have read all 17 and am on the waiting list at my library for the new one "Explosive Eighteen"--they are hysterical and make me laugh out loud!! Just what is needed for escapism from this out-of-control world!

message 40: by Lynn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lynn Mitra Lynn- two is even better than the first!,, I just finished the 4th - introducing Sally Sweet- the book is too funny!! I love the characters and their bantering!!!

The In Betweens aren't that great because there's less Morelli and Ranger and it's all just more mystical and fantasy filled. But there good in there own way. So happy your enjoying the series :)

Mysterygal3 I am so hooked on Evanovich Stephanie Plum serie. Her character's are a hoot, Granny makes me roll and then there is Lulu. Throw in a little hotties with Morelli and Ranger. I can't pick just one book in the series thats my favorite, There are all great reads.

Andre Farant I'm a sucker for thrillers with solid humor so, of course, I'm a Plum fan (though, I'll admit, I mostly read Evanovich while waiting for the new Hiaasen)!

Here's more info on the upcoming movie, including the trailer:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1598828/

Carole Love Stephanie Plum--read them all but my favorite was "To the Nines" about Las Vegas--Laugh-out-loud til you cry hysterical!!! By the way Andre: who is Hiaasen?

Mysterygal3 Thanks for sharing the trailer Andre, I can't wait for th movie to come out. I have been reading Evanovich for years. I am kinda disappointed at who they have as Ranger...He doen't look a think like the Ranger in the books. But I will wait and see if he fits the bill.

I got book 17 and 18 but havent started them yet. I am hooked on Robert Ellis right now. Reading "Murder Season" its the third book in this series...a good read

Andre Farant Hi Carole. Carl Hiaasen's the author of screwball mysteries set in Florida. If you enjoy Evanovich, there's a good chance you'll like Hiaasen. My favorites of his are 'Skin Tight,' 'Lucky You,' and 'Skinny Dip.'

Don't mean to hijack the Plum thread, though!

Mysterygal3 I'll check out Carl Hiaasen books.

Carole Me too--thanks for the heads-up Andre! In the meantime I'm anxiously awaiting my name to come up on the library list for "Explosive Eighteen"!

message 49: by Carole (last edited Dec 07, 2011 11:04PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Carole Yeah--Ranger just seems to take it all in stride--all he seems to say is "Babe..."! Obviously he is independently wealthy....lol!

message 50: by Sim (new) - rated it 4 stars

Sim I have read all Stephanie Plum books, waiting for Eighteen. I have very definite pictures in my mind of what the characters look like and they have Lula, Stepanie and Granma Muzur but Ranger for me was always Dwayne " The Rock"Johnson or the like and Morrelli was a Mark Ruffalo or the guy out of The Wedding Date. Probably will see the movie. Books are ALWAYS better.
