...and you only had a split second to grab whatever books you could, what books would you grab?

Remember you can only hold so many!

*This is, of course, just a theoretical question. If there is ever a fire where you live, don't worry about getting books, get somewhere safe.

message 2: by Tabreya (new)

Tabreya This is a hard question. I feel like i would die trying to make a decision. I would just be standing there staring at my books and by the time i chose, i would be dead. But if I made my choices in time i would definitely get: Holy Bible, Looking for Alaska, Clockwork Prince, Clockwork Princess and City of Lost Souls.

I'd probably also just sit there staring at my bookshelf. Most likely a fireman would have to come drag me out, kicking and screaming.

message 4: by Tabreya (new)

Tabreya ^^ LOL! I have to agree with you there. The fireman would be like, "Ma'am you need to come out of the house. This is a matter of life and death." And i would say, "You don't understand! This is my life!" I would then proceed to cling on to my bookshelf, screaming at the top of my lungs. Since i'm kind of a small person he would win and I would be outside acting like Gollum from the Hobbit, "My precious!"

LOLOL. I would be on the floor in my room, surrounded with my books, weeping like I was losing a child. I'm told I can get pretty violent and I know for a fact that I can put up a heckuva fight. Things might get ugly with the fireman>:|

I definitely know I have a problem with letting go of books, especially ones that I have read more then once (every book I own.). I would sit there and demand that they carry every single book out and if they didn't, they would have to physically restrain me from doing it myself.

message 7: by Lina (new)

Lina (booksnotlovers) My Harry Potters. I couldn't bare the thought of losing all the writing I've done in them over the past years. And my Hobbit book, probably. And Perks of Being A Wallflower, which is my favorite non-HP-book.

message 8: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah | 19 comments I would be desperately trying to drag my entire bookshelf outside! The firemen would never get me out unless the bookshelf was outside. That being said, if I forcibly had to choose what books to save I would save A. As many Mortal Instruments as I could Carry and B. Clockwork Prince (You have to love Jem!)

message 9: by Ayomide (new)

Ayomide (ayomide101) | 23 comments Sweet Evil Trilogy and The Gallagher Academy Series................ wait what am I saying. I can't leave my precious- es to born. If my books go down, I go down too. My parents would understand. On my gravestone it would say ''What a hero, she died saving her books''

message 10: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Book Witch (lauren962) I agree with the fact that I would just stand there agonizing over my book shelf and be dead by the time I decided! Or I would yell at the firemen/woman "Forget about me! Can you get my bookshelf?!" But if I really had to choose I would take the collection of random house fairy takes my mom got me as a baby, niether wolf nor dog by kent nerburn, as well as all the books of the temeraire series I could carry!

message 11: by Ken (new)

Ken (kanthr) The Book of the New Sun, Invincible: The Games of Shusaku, The City & The City, and as many others off my top shelf as I could grab.

coconutsnbutts (♫ נєѕѕι¢α ♪) | 201 comments Mod
I definitely wouldn't die over my books. I would break the window in my bedroom, throw out as many books as I could, then get myself out. And this is just assuming that the fire hasn't reached my bedroom yet...if it has, I would just focus on rescuing my pet turtle.

ShadowhunterFatima (littlebubbles) | 9 comments I would grab my PSP cuz i read my ebooks on it :P

message 14: by Krista (new)

Krista (krista28) | 8 comments I would definitely grab the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead.

message 15: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn Watson (scrubbie) My Fifty Shades of Grey boxed set and my Kindle lol I know my kindle isn't a book but it has my electronic reading list on it I cant loose it. And this is all under the assumption that my "bookworm reading buddy" (Scarlet my calico cat (3 years old and bestest friend) is already safe)

I think one of the conditions for the game is that everything living gets out. My cats would obviously have been first choice here too!

message 17: by Kaitlyn (new)

Kaitlyn Watson (scrubbie) Yes my cats would almost get out before me.. I have been married for a year and the 4 years before hand have been the worst years of my life. (major depression) but when my baby scarlet was born I spoiled her and babied her and now she wont leave my side and now we have her sister Melonnie little play on words with "Gone with the wind" characters

message 18: by Bookishlor (last edited Jul 09, 2013 05:15PM) (new)

Bookishlor The fireman WOULD help with my bookshelf or else put out the fire. There is no try. lol

Okay more realistically (if they decide to leave me for crazy and the throw-the-books-out-the-bedroom-window is not possible), I would grab Shade's Children, Robin McKinley's The Blue Sword (cause i had to hunt and order the hardback version i preferred on amazon), and my little black nook with a lot of my To-Read list. Oh crud! My cats! I would definitely grab my cats....to strap more books to their backs. ;) Where's the duck tape?!? Calm down, fur grows back people.

message 19: by Josey (new)

Josey (got2read11) | 71 comments I have a nook that has almost 200 books on it now, so I would grab that. The benefits of e-readers....

≈aleх: pнoenιх oғ тнe ғlaмe≈ (loveisendless) One book series: Vlad Tod

message 22: by Joudie (new)

Joudie | 22 comments My mom would hold the door open, my sister would supply a huge bag and I would happily drag them all out! I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't take all the books with me.

Omg I don't think you'd be able to carry all that. Remember YOU HAVE ONLY SECONDS...
