Duration: Ongoing, no deadline, sign up at any time
Rules: All formats are acceptable, but must be at least 150 pages in length. Please disregard “a”, “an” and “the” when working with a book title. You may post your list in advance, or post as you go. Changes can be made to your list at any time. Re-reads are allowed as long as you re-read the entire book – no skimming, please.
When signing up for the challenge please remember that “I’m in”, or I’ll post list later” does not work for the sign up. You MUST post at least a partial list. All other posts regarding sign up will be deleted.
It is not necessary to post an update - this is optional. However, we all like to see what everyone else is reading for a challenge, so updates now and then are very helpful. An update is a repost of your original list showing book title/author links along with the dates read.
When you’ve completed a level or the challenge entirely, you MUST repost your original list showing the book title/author links and dates read for each book.
Here’s the scoop: There are four colors – three levels to the challenge:
Level One: Spell-it-Out: Using the first letter of a book’s title or the first/last letter of the author's name, spell out each of the four colors.
Level Two: Scavenger Hunt: Read a book that fits each task listed below for each respective color.
Level Three: Complete both level one and two.
These are the beautiful colors we have to work with, and the tasks:
1. Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It – Read a book with the letters MOUSIE found in the title; OR a book with something that sparkles on the cover (jewelry, diamonds, stones, etc); OR a book with an “M” title (title begins with “M”); OR the first book in a series .
2. I’m All Ears – Read a book with a body part found on the cover – preferably ears (this is not the entire body or the torso, but the hand, foot, etc.); OR a book with a blue or purple cover; OR an “I” book; OR the second book of a series.
3. If You Moust, You Moust – Read a book with the word “Must” in the title; OR a book with a predominantly pink cover; OR book # 1 or #5 from a list (your TBR, CIGURL, 1001 Books, or any list of your choice – be sure to post the list you choose); OR the third book of a series.
4. The Color of Minnie – Read a book with a red dress, polka dots, or a mouse on the cover; OR a book with the color “red” in the title; OR an “M” author (author’s first or last name begins with “M”); OR the fourth book in a series.
ETA: If you are doing option three, you may double dip (as Teresa in Ohio refers to it), using the books you read for option 2 (scavenger) for option 3 (spell) as well.
ETA: For "Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It" - the task description for something sparkly pink on the cover has been changed to something that sparkles on the cover (jewelry, diamonds, stones, etc).
