Ender’s Game
question
What is one of the most memorable moments from a book you've read?

Books, like films, are usually remembered by one or two scenes that are so powerful, so shocking, or so emotional they cannot be forgotten. Having read hundreds of books, my memory of many of the details, plot points, or dialogue is extremely limited. Yet, even with reflections of hundreds of books clattering around in my brain I still remember certain keys scenes from a handful of books which I am unlikely to forget any time soon. One book and one scene in particular I'll never forget is the incredible revelation at the end of Ender's Game.

I have two such moments. One is from Ender's Game as mentioned above. The other is from Catch 22 when Yossarian opens his buddy's flight suit and finds out why his friend is cold. I phrased that to avoid spoiling it.

I was seven years old (I'm 59 now). The book: Rabbit Hill by Robert Lawson. The scene: Georgie on a quest to see his uncle is chased by a dog. Georgie is in great danger of dying! Will he be able to jump over the stream and so escape the dog? Yes, he makes a mighty jump and saves himself. This scene and a couple of others - like when the little mouse nearly drowns or Georgie gets hit by a car and is nursed back to health by the Folks - made Rabbit Hill one of the notable books in my life.
Ender's Game was a memorable book for me, but also Boy's Life by Robert R. McCammon. It's an interesting mix of a coming-of-age story, mystery novel and the mysterious events the main character is involved in. It, like Ender's Game, is a book I've come back more than once to read.
BTW, I am looking forward to the Ender's Game movie, if for nothing more to see the Battle Room sequences!
