Hello my fellow Texans! I'm finally here but still travelling down to the tip. Weather is great! Wish I could spend the winter here.
We got a nice all night soaking here, so I stayed up all night writing with a rainy soundtrack. I love it, but now I am deliriously tired.
I love the sound of rain and thunderstorms! I will literally be outside during one, undercover of course:)

Finally managed to make it to the bookstore 2day and got Phantoms and The Taking by Dean Koontz and Ghost Story by Peter Straub for $3. She also had the Harry Potter series for $50 but they was missing their covers so that seemed a little extreme to me.
I know! I come home and was telling my husband about it. My daughter was standing saying "but I wanted em," lol, I told her I think we can buy a set of hardcovers new for that price or not much more.
So maybe not, I just checked on amazon and a new set is $150 but I can get a very good used set for $58

Yeah Hardcovers are not cheap. I have the large paperback copies of most pf them. I did get HC's of Deathly Hallows and Order Of The Phoenix, which was my favorite one, from bookstores and they were easily $25.00 each at the time. I would get that $58.00 set. That's a great deal if you ask me. I never see those atused book stores around my area.
Do those Harry Potter books get better? I didn't even finish the first one but I have all the eBooks.
Angie wrote: "Is the new set that much? I thought they were cheaper!"I thought they be cheaper too. the last one is what 5 or 6yrs old.?
I bought books 6 and 7 of the Harry Potter series early in the Spring and had every intention of finishing the series before the end of the year, but got sidetracked with other reads. I only have two or three more books I really want to read first, then I will tackle the last of the Harry Potter series. Chuck, if you didn't like the first one, you most likely won't care for the others (just my opinion).
Almost midnight and I just got home from work. Have been up since early this morning and I'm pretty tired. Since I can sleep late tomorrow, I will probably read for an hour or so.
Chuck wrote: "Do those Harry Potter books get better? I didn't even finish the first one but I have all the eBooks."I thought they did, Chuck. I was reading them with my daughter who was sort of growing up with them, so it was... ahem, forced upon me, shall we say.
The story does get darker as it goes, but it's such a gradual shift you may not notice it at all.
Overall, I say there are books out there you would be much more satisfied with if you don't have to read these.
Thanks guys. You know, I do want to read them. But there is just SO much stuff I want to read--everything is kinda vying for that CR spot. Maybe one day...
Can't hang any longer. Goodnight everyone! I'm going to bed and dreaming about BOOKS :-)
Cindy wrote: "Can't hang any longer. Goodnight everyone! I'm going to bed and dreaming about BOOKS :-)"Goodnight Cindy and good to see you here. Later days everyone. I don't ever get headaches, but my head hurts worse than it ever has in my life tonight (with the notable exception of a couple of fist fights) and I don't know why. Evil stuff here. I suppose I am no longer a migraine virgin. I'm going to bed. Sweet dreams.
Our clocks changed a week ago, so it's been dark by 5 pm, dark and raining all week. I get migraines Adam, it's why I vanish for a couple of days a week!
Just got in and I'm tired. Had a long day, but feeling pretty good considering the hours I'm working. Watching The Voice and still rooting for the hometown girl. Not gonna read any tonight, but I am definitely starting Carrion Comfort tomorrow. Better be slow at work tomorrow or I'm gonna throw a temper tantrum.
Just watched The Walking Dead, was too tired last night. Wow! Unexpected ending. Now I shall read more Black Tooth Grin until I fall asleep. Night night.
OK, so I got Carrion Comfort a couple of days ago thanks to an awesome friend and I haven't had time to read much (only 50 pages or so). This is definitely NOT material for young adults. Very bizarre and wicked from the starting gate. Hope to get more read this weekend.
300 pages in, Cindy. Young adult... nah. Though I would have enjoyed this as a teen alongside all the King I was reading. This one is pretty twisted.

"Twisted", exactly!
"Twisted", exactly!
Finishing up some editing on my next release, Adam gave me some great advice to make this one shine. Watching a little of AHS new episode with the wife, too. We're still persisting with this season, even though so far its not as good as the previous two.
I walk outside to have a smoke and my kids have written "I love you mom" all over the windows of my van :)

Adam wrote: "300 pages in, Cindy. Young adult... nah. Though I would have enjoyed this as a teen alongside all the King I was reading. This one is pretty twisted."Funny you say that. I read a lot of horror as a kid, and that was before King was writing. As horror became more popular over the years, it seems like it also became more visceral. I'm okay with that, and as a kid I would have eaten it up, but I hate the thought of most kids reading it:)
Same here, Rick. I just know what I enjoyed and I can't believe I didn't hear about Simmons when I was younger. I am happy about it now, though. I get to experience it like it was brand new now. That works for me. I don't think I would want my kids reading this kind of stuff either.
Trying to decide what to read after after I finished The Final Descent (The Monstrumologist #4) earlier today. I have plenty of books to choose from...but that's the problem! LOL :)
Lounging in bed catching up on GR. About to start to read till I get sleepy. Having a family crisis so sleep is elusive.
I am happy that Stanford is beating the hell out of Oregon, also insanely jazzed that the audiobook versions of my stories Vengeance By The Foot and Way out of Here sound dynamite! I think it is just about time to get a few hours of writing in before I have to wake up at 5:30 and go to work.
I took my grandson to see Thor 2 today, and got Terry Pratcett s New book. The boom looks really good so I'm looking forward to reading it in a little while.
Think I'm gonna sign off GR's for a little while so I can actually read without becoming distracted. Can't help myself. If I'm on GR's, I am constantly surfing through posts. Be back in a little while.

Sick wife and kids here, trying to get everyone feeling better without getting sick myself.
Sorry to hear that, Evans. I am about to do my read through of your story. Will get with you in a bit with feedback. It has been a crazy day here. Give the family my love.

Thor2 was really good! I'd go see it again, I'm not going to tell you what happened in it though :-). But you should go see it. What's Maniac? I've never heard of it.

What? No spoilers, Angie? ;). Maniac was a remake of a 1980 slasher-movie about a guy with a mommy complex who goes around scalping ladies so he can put realistic hair on his mannequins. I won't bother hiding that bit, I believe that is in the synopsis. It featured Elijah Wood as the psycho. I have never really been a fan of Elijah Wood, so I wasn't expecting much, but he didn't do too bad in this role.

Cool. I'll have to check Thor 2 out. The first one was pretty good. Eyes too scratchy to read or write, so we're settled in with THE LOST BOYS tonight. Haven't seen it in ages. Good old cheesy fun. I remember trying to sneak into the theater to see this with Adam when it first hit theaters. I think I was 15 and he was 12. We got kicked out and had to settle for THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS.
