You're reading this one too Cindy?! Man, I really want to get a copy of this! You'll have to let me know what you think.

message 902: by [deleted user] (new)

I will Holly. It has gotten very good reviews.

message 903: by Holly (new)

Holly | 140 comments Okay, thanks.

message 904: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments No way, I'm reading that as well lol:o) it does sound great doesn't it? It does suck not sleeping but I read the blue light from modern phones and pads disrupts sleep patterns. Don't know how true that is though.

message 905: by [deleted user] (new)

Interesting. But then again just about everything kills people anymore.

message 906: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) Angie wrote: "Julia how was the new Patricia Briggs book? I've got it on my wish list for when it comes down in price, its still really expensive to buy yet. ..."

Angie - I really enjoyed it, so far I think it was the best one in the series. I really like the pack dynamic in this book. It's only out in paperback so I think Barnes & Noble has it for $23 (?), but Target usually carries it for 10% cheaper. I got a library copy and I'll buy the paperback when it comes out for my keepers.

Angie | 623 comments Same here Sonny, I've finished four books this week so today I've just been on goodreads to give myself a bit of a break. I'll be back reading tomorrow, I've got all my books ready to go:D

Julia (juliace) Cindy wrote: "OK, finished that one. Now I'm reading Take One With You by Oak Anderson."

I love the premise (sp) of this book. The plot is like nothing I've ever heard of before. I've been telling all of my reader friends about it.

message 909: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished the first chapter and I'm already hooked. Probably won't stop until I'm finished.

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Room by Emma Donoghue

What a fantastic book! I didn't read the synopsis first, instead trusting in a fellow reader (Kat) who recommended it. I'm about 50% done and wow, what a great read! It's fantastic so far! I hope it continues. I even read some of it when I woke at 4am this morning - I just hate to put it down!

message 915: by r8chh (new)

r8chh I haven't seen the movie yet but I can't wait to!!!

@brenda that's such a disturbing book! I read it awhile ago but I didn't really like it haha I hope you like it though!! :)

Emma | 96 comments sonny wrote: "but I am not doing very well Haha"

I am the same Sonny, I sometimes stop to read something else, either for mood or necessity, then it takes me ages to get back into (if at all). My main book just now is Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy, #1) by Danielle L. Jensen really enjoying it. Stopped The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton until I have finished a few review books, hope to get back into it soon though :)

message 917: by Angie (last edited Apr 11, 2014 11:07AM) (new)

Angie | 623 comments The secret keeper gets a lot better in part three Emma, its Vivian's story:) And its so sad it made me cry, definatly makes up for all the Dolly part. I'm just about to start
Matterhorn by Karl Marlantes Matterhorn We're reading it on the Never Ending Book Read if any one wants to join in with us. We've been reading some brilliant books there:o)

message 918: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Have you finished it then Angie? Will try and get through, once I get into it properly it should be fine. :) Btw did you get my email the other day about the traveling book?

message 919: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments _dropaheart wrote: "@brenda that's such a disturbing book! I read it awhile ago but I didn't really like it haha I hope you like it though!! :)"

It seems very well written to me, just like a little kid who's completely out of touch with 'the real world' would be. Yes, the material is pretty disturbing, but it's quite a tale, especially with all the stories we hear these days. But I think that's one of the things I like about it. I knew absolutely nothing going into it, and I'm finding it very hard to put down. (Something my bosses wouldn't appreciate LOL!)

Angie | 623 comments I saw you were reading Room Brenda and when I looked it up I had to get a copy. It arrived about one hour ago and I can't wait to get stuck into it:o

I did finish the secret keeper Emma, when I was not feeling to good all I could do was not move and read. But at least I have plenty to read, every cloud has a sliver lining its said, lol. I got your message yesterday and saw that I'm second in the list after you, its going to be fun to see how it all works out:-)

the cement garden by Ian McEwan

sonny (no longer in use) (satyrica) | 32 comments I am also reading the bell by iris murdoch (I may have already posted this)

message 923: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC I just read a pretty cool book I would like to turn someone on to: Lexicon

I think the author did a really great job of coming up with a fresh premise to build a story around. I kept returning to that ol' saying we've all heard as kids: "Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me." Because words are just words, right? Well, words are labels for concepts that intiate neurochemical reactions in our brains. If you intiate the right reactions, you can control the actions of others. Those who are extremely adept as it are called "poets." So we have charaters with names such as: Elliot, Keats, Atwood, and Bronte. It's really pretty cool, I thought. I'm not even sure what genre this would be. I'm probably going to tag as thriller, horror, and sci-fi.

message 924: by Julia (new)

Julia (juliace) Currently reading A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness , about 3/4 finished and can't wait for the second book, which I've already ordered from the library.

message 925: by Malina (new)

Malina I just finished The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt , it took me a while, it is a bit to long and I feel the author could've trimmed it down a bit, she goes into to many details that don't really contribute to the story line, but all in all I enjoyed it, it was a good story.

I also read The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg , a quick fun read

message 926: by [deleted user] (new)

Currently reading Feed (Newsflesh Trilogy, #1) by Mira Grant , The Fall (The Strain Trilogy, #2) by Guillermo del Toro , and Dust and Decay (Benny Imura, #2) by Jonathan Maberry .

It's really good! You will enjoy it

message 940: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) I needed something light after the Goldfinch and Wild Sheep Chase. Am I going to be wrong? Ha.

message 941: by Malina (new)

Malina Well it's not exactly "light" , he is Stephen King's son after all!

message 942: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) Well, I was looking for something that wouldn't make my mind work as hard as Ian McEwan, Haruki Murakami, and Donna Tartt, my last three reads, made it work. :)
