message 852: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I've not read any Sophie Kinsella novels yet Leanne, but I've got one of her cookbooks. I'm going to be starting
Rebecca in a few days as part of a buddy read, it should be good.

Sophia Kinsella is fun! I read the Shopaholic series several years ago aloud when my husband and I would travel (we did a lot of camping in those days, when gas and camping fees were much, much cheaper), and we both did a lot of laughing at the antics in the books.

Yeah, it's my first time. Have you read the whole series?

message 861: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Yep, and I've just read the first chapter of book 4. It is really good, but I didn't think you normally read this kind of book.

Yeah, I don't. I was looking for a fantasy-type thing to get into.

I was thinking--and I probably will next month--read that Sanderson series, The Way of Kings, IIRC.

Azure Bonds by Kate Novak

It's fun, and quite interesting for me to read an older Forgotten Realms book.

message 864: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments You should love way of kings Chuck, I didn't dislike any part of it and I can't wait for book three now!

message 865: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments That looks like a good book Parthavi:) and its on the kindle for £2.99 as well which works out cheaper than buying a real copy. I've but it down on my wish list. I'm about to start Flesh and Blood and Fade Away. Both should be good fun.

message 866: by Holly (new)

Holly | 140 comments Currently reading A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin , Bloody Crimes The Chase for Jefferson Davis and the Death Pageant for Lincoln's Corpse by James L. Swanson , and Fade Away (Myron Bolitar, #3) by Harlan Coben .

I also started A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness and am enjoying it so far. I'll probably put is aside next week, though, when The Collector by Nora Roberts by Nora Roberts comes out.

message 878: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Think I'm about to read: All Quiet on the Western Front

message 879: by Malina (new)

Malina The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt Finally getting into it, I seem to read and read and not advance!

message 880: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) It is a hefty book. The problem is, I have about five other hefty books on my to be read list. But it's a good arm workout! :-)

message 881: by Malina (new)

Malina Daniel wrote: "It is a hefty book. The problem is, I have about five other hefty books on my to be read list. But it's a good arm workout! :-)"

Well I got it for free on my kindle, so I'm not sure I can count it as arm work! :D

message 882: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) Free? Wow nice! I got mine fashion way: paper and purchase. Ha.

By the way, I am thoroughly enjoying the wild sheep Chase by Haruki Murakami. That this was one of his earlier books leads me to wonder how much better his writing has gotten since then. That I have never read any of his books is an amazing thing too but I blame you, Malina, for not getting me to read Murakami earlier. :-)

message 883: by Malina (new)

Malina Murakami is amazing!!

message 884: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) Like I said, why didn't you force me to read him earlier?

message 886: by [deleted user] (new)

Absolutely nothing! For a couple of hours at least. Don't remember the last time I was caught up. REALLY need to focus on ONE AT A TIME. Works out so much better for me. Read at a much faster pace.

message 887: by Gregor (new)

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments I'm reading The Drive-In 2: Not Just One of Them Sequels and with everything I've read by Lansdale, I'm enjoying the heck out of it.

message 888: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I'm reading five again Cindy, it seems as soon as I finish one I've got so many others to get through.
Julia how was the new Patricia Briggs book? I've got it on my wish list for when it comes down in price, its still really expensive to buy yet.

I got the audio for that last month and then found out it's actually part of a series. The only Murakami I've read is 1Q84.

message 890: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Angie wrote: "I'm reading five again..."

LOL! I keep saying I'm not going to do that, but it just doesn't work. Instead of saying I'm going back to one at time, I'm now at the point where I say I'm going back to no more than three at time. But, that doesn't work either!

message 891: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments It never works out for me either:D I just keep adding more books, lol. But I prefer to read than watch TV so it all works out OK , my eyes are all blurry now though so I think I'm going to have to rest them for a couple of hours. I always make lots of spelling mistakes when I get like this which looks really funny when I read what I wrote the next day, lol.

sonny (no longer in use) (satyrica) | 32 comments chuck the book was a pleasant surprise, I added it because it was mentioned on the ps pages of the hours. definitely read it.

sonny (no longer in use) (satyrica) | 32 comments angie I am the same, my reading list is stuffed with half read books. it's not like they are badly written or that they're boring but the way they treat me emotionally. take forbidden colours for example, the character is perfect, the way he looks and what he does (his secret life that is) makes me burn with envy and I become very insecure so I sick up a shorter novel to break it up. but it's one novel after another. so I am trying to break that cycle.

sonny (no longer in use) (satyrica) | 32 comments but I am not doing very well Haha

I got that as well Cindy!! And I'm all ready to read it tomorrow after I've been to the library and the supermarket:o)

As you can see I didn't go to sleep, my insomnia is so bad, lol. Never mind it just means more time to chat:)

message 898: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep. Just read and chat until you drop. LOL! Seriously, I know about the insomnia thing and sometimes it really sucks.

message 899: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (diaze) Yeah, Angie. I second that.

message 900: by [deleted user] (new)
