Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Surprisingly, this thread hasn't already been started by our fearless Mod, Fiona. She is constantly pushing this book, to the point I was surprised it didn't come with handles when I bought it. ;)

I really look forward to reading this one. Please share, but remember to mark your spoilers!!

Allison (inconceivably) Well we have started a thread for the author already...perhaps that explains her lapse ;)

Loved this, I'm reading another DWJ right now.

And if you read Howl's, make sure to check out the movie!

Allison (inconceivably) I just started it a couple hours ago during my lunch break :D Charmed Life.

Allison (inconceivably) yeah its good so far :) only about 50 pages in cause I was distracted on here :P

message 5: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) I enjoyed this one. The movie is lovely, too, but I have a hard time comparing them because they're both so different.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Just curious, is the movie animated? I was trying to find the movie on Netflix, but all I could find was an animated one. If that's the right one, I will add it to my queue.

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments I just picked up Howl's Moving Castle for my husband to read and of course I'll be reading it too. He loves the Harry Potter books so I thought he might like this. He was very excited about it when I showed it to him last night. My husband wasn't much of a reader but I converted him. Now he can't stop and he keeps asking me for suggestions.

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments I skimmed it last night as well and it looks great. Yet another book I'm dying to read.

message 13: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) Does DWJ's book Castle in Air have anything to do with Howl's Moving Castle? And for those of you familiar with the animated movies by Miyazaki, does the book have anything to do with his movie Laputa: Castle in the Sky?

message 14: by Josie (new)

Josie (maid_marian) | 126 comments Castle in the air is a sequel of sorts to Howl's. Howl and Sophie appear in it towards the end, but they're definitely not the main characters. Laputa: Castle in the Sky is something completely different, I'm pretty sure!

message 15: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) Laputa: Castle in the Sky is what got me into anime. I was about 6 or 7 years old, and my dad took me to see an old dubbed version at a film festival in Manhattan. That was around 1989. For most of my life I was the only person in school who watched anime, and now that it's mainstream I don't have time for it. Go figure.

Thanks for clearing that up!
