I found a great deal on one of my favorites "Anne of Green Gables". You get 12 books for 99 cents on Amazon. So I got the entire Anne series :) I am so excited to read this collection and then share it with my daughter on her Kindle.

How on earth did you manage to get 12 for 99 cents? A book club of some sort I guess. Have to buy so many books within a specified period of time.

I don't want to give away anything but I was a little disappointed. It was a really enjoyable read. I just expected a little more toward the end. It requires some reading between the lines to get the character's true motives, and I felt I had to reread a lot due to sentence structure. I feel James wanted to leave some things ambiguous so you're not always sure how you should interpret them.

I'm taking my time with it. It has quite a reputation so I'm a little leary of it. I've enjoyed what I've read so far.

I read it several years ago, and remember very little of it now. I wish I'd taken my time with it, as well. I was just so captivated by Golding's prose, I couldn't put it down.

I did think the chapters I read of The Lord of the Flies were very well written and engaging. I just hesitate to keep going because I anticipate something unnerving. I don't know why except for the general noise I've heard about the book.

I read Lord of the Flies years ago, and I liked it because it was so unnerving. It's one of those books that makes you think about what it means to be human. Especially a young, forming human.

Thanks Rick and Dustin. I think it's going to be a critical read for me and the feedback makes me want to keep going with it. Reading a couple of other books, but I can manage three. Another group is reading The Little Prince in August which will make for a nice break from the darker stuff I think. Enjoying it all though.

I couldn't agree more. Golding had that unique ability to cause his readers to question themselves, the quality of life, and what it truly means to be human. Especially those that read it a young age.
