I'd recommend GOOD MORNING MIDNIGHT, by Jean Rhys. It's as fine a psychological novel as any I've ever read.

If I could recommend a book to Stephen King, I would tell him about my own book The Animal. The man would probably be more interested in my second novel that I am working on, since it is horror. But any chance to let one of my biggest influences know that his writing took a part in me becoming a writer, there would be no hesitation. The Animal

Hi everyone, saw this thread and couldn't resist adding my two cents' worth. To King, and all King fans, I recommend one of the best books I've read in recent years: The Pilo Family Circus by Will Elliot. The story is very King-ish in its style. It won the ABC Fiction Prize a few years ago, as well as a few others, I think. Seriously, this is an excellent and very creepy read!
