Rihana I'm just not sure if the second book is worth it...PLEASE HELP!

Gabby Yes!!! The second book has slightly more action and drama than the first one, it's awesome

Miriam In my opinion, the second book was terrible which was disappointing because I loved The Selection. But in The Elite, America spends the whole entire book running back and forth between Maxon and Aspen. That's it other than a few dramatic moments thrown in at the most convenient spots. Plus the characters resemble those of a soap opera.

But that was just what I thought and if you liked the first, and you think you can like the second, then you should read it. :D It's all a matter of preferences.

Yeah, the running back and forwards was annoying , but besides that I liked it.

It's good that you liked it. Will you be reading the third book?

Gabby DEFINITELY !

Seaspray13 YES :) I agree, she is running back and forth, but I also like that (at least near to the end) America ends up hitting reality a bit more, becoming more real.

Ilana i think that the 2nd book is a great bridge in the series, while there's not a ton that happened that we wanted to happen, you get a bit more depth on the relationships and there's a LOT of growth that we see from America's perspective. i think that you definitely should check it out if for no other reason but to see what happens. not so much in the selection of the girls, but what Maxon is going to become since i think that's really what will come in The One

Brittany Bardman Yes, Rihana, it is definitely worth it. If you are looking foreword to a mix of romance, action, and suspense, go for it! The Elite is definitely unnecessary at some points, and does run back and forth sometimes, but I think The One might be confusing without the extra explanations. I think that Kiera Cass really puts a twist in this novel that is meant for all readers to read. I definitely think that you should read the Elite.

I totally agree, i was soo bored with it I started painting my nails while reading...and I NEVER do that...I was like 'MAKE UP YOUR MIND ALREADY!' the whole time. I'm going to read the 3rd book only because I have a blog and I said I'd review the whole series, but honestly...very dissapointing.

Brittany Bardman I hope that the third book is better than the second, too!

Yeah, and to my shame, I skimmed most of the book. I did and I hate that but I just couldn't help it. The book wasn't absorbing or enthralling and I just couldn't understand the high ratings it got. Last time I checked it had an average rating of 4.something.

I'm going to read the third book again, but this time I'm not buying it. I'll probably borrow it from one of the local libraries. I sincerely hope it lives up to the standards of the first book and not the second one.

Mariana Yes!! You have to read the rest of this series!!

Faith Yes! I personally didn't like is as much as the first book but I still enjoyed it.

Casey Yes, definitely if you liked the first book at all then it is certainly worth your tie in my opinion to read the second book!

Brittany Bardman I still think whether you hear "don't read it" or not it is worth it. It may be easier to read The One (which comes out in 2014) when you have read The Elite.

So I would read it no matter the ratings.

To be positive, It really did have some great parts!

Olivia You should! This is one of two books I think I've ever read that both the first and second books were both good!

Brittany Bardman I agree! Not many series (besides Rick Riordan's books!) carry on with a "want to read" sense until the end.

Ashley If you liked the drama in the first book you will like the second one simply because there is even more drama.

Brittany Bardman Yeah... Kiera likes drama, I suppose, and I like her books because of it. There are lots of roller coasters
(Physically, mentally, and emotionally) in her books and I love them all.

Angela I truly enjoyed the book. Yes there is a s-tun of crying going on, but I still enjoyed it. And the funny thing is I hate love triangles. I read it in less than 6 hours at work.

Brittany Bardman I also think the second book was full... almost too full... of drama, but it certainly did not make me not want to read it.

chinami read it but be prepared for a standstill in the plot.

Vanessa if you expect bigger story/plot, then no.
if you just want Maxon-America-Aspen, then yes.

Vanessa Miriam wrote: "In my opinion, the second book was terrible which was disappointing because I loved The Selection. But in The Elite, America spends the whole entire book running back and forth between Maxon and As..."

I totally agree! I really like the Selection but the Elite was a total disappointment for me and I felt like there was no point to it. I felt like I ended up at the same point as when I ended the first one (except for some girls leaving the castle). It was really frustrating for me to read because of a lot of moral things too but anyways, i don't think you should read, because of how much it discouraged my view on the series, but that's just my opinion.

Well the second book is actually a novella. It's like "The Selection 1.5". It's called "The Prince" and is about his very first love.
