If so, would you recommend it to people who've read the House of Night series at all? Do you know of any other series similar? (Apart from Shadow Falls - I've read that already) :)

The Vampire Academy series is quite different from the House of Night series. The only thing they've got in similar is that both series feature vampires.
But I loved the Vampire Academy series, one of my favourites actually, so I'd recommend it to you if you love a strong heroine, sexy love interest and a good storyline.

I loved Vampire Academy, the best youth adult vamp series there is, I agree with Rechel that the Morganville Vampire series is good also. But i loved Lara Adrian's vamp series, and the absolute best vamp series ever, and one of my top favorite series of all time is Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward, mind you these last 2 authors are in the romance section and NOT youth adult in anyway. But very, very good
I absolutely LOVE the VA series. I've read every single book in the series and I own the last 3. I'd definitely recommend it to someone who has read the HoN series. But while they are both very different, the have very few similar things.
I've never read Vampire Academy. (Don't worry, it's on my to-read list!) I did read most of HoN. I did enjoy it for most of them. Then i suddenly got tired of it and ended up going through a year of not reading from that series. I finally picked up Awakened a few weeks ago. It was alright, but now after seeing this post on how amazing VA is, I think I might just forget about finishing HoN. Is it worth reading to the end? I only have a few more books, but I also have a HUGE to-read list so I'm not sure.
Much much better than HoN. The heroine over there aint a slut/brat/bitch. And theres a plot. Like, an actual plot
Thanks for all of your replies. :) I agree that the HoN books have dragged on for way too long, but I like the concept of having a boarding school for supernaturals in society. It's a shame that the series didn't turn out better.

I would definitely recommend it! So much better than HoN. Kick-ass heroine and bad-ass hot men! And the first book is currently being filmed in London and will hit theaters Feb. 14 next year! Its called Blood Sisters(:

No. BUT GUESS WHAT?!? IT'S GONNA BE A MOVIE SERIES. THE FIRST ONE COMES OUT IN A YEAR OR TWO.
I loved this series! It has a really good story line. I love the characters. (:
I actually really like Vampire Academy more than the House of Night series. Only because House of Night is so long and drawn out. Everytime a new book comes out, I have to go back and reread the last one to remember what happened.
There not vampire books, but I LOVE the Mortal Instruments series. Movie comes out in August :)

Vampire Academy is one of my favorites it is defiantly worth a read,it's all so coming to the big screen hope they don't mess it up as the book were grate.
I love Vampire Academy Series specially Adrian and Dimitri.the book really becomes a part of my bookish life...If your really into vampires I recommend Morganville Vampires and of course The Vampire Diaries
Well, there's a huge difference between Vampire Academy and HoN. You know what it is?
1) Vampire Academy is much more interesting, only lasts FIVE books, not bloody FIFTEEN or whatever.
2) Vampire Academy is one of the best Vampire books/series' you'll ever read. There's a strong heroine, not a weak little whatsit. She's also not a slut.
3) THERE'S A PLOT!
4) There's not an entire book wasted on a teeny weeny problem.
5) It's full of action.
6) There are only two main hot guys not 50 billion.
Need I go on?
It's kinda obvious which series is the better one here, and which one you should read and which one you should forget about.
