Sarah (is clearing her shelves) (sarahjf1984) | 236 comments Hi all, just wondering whether the last sentence regarding where you can read a free preview of the book is allowed as part of a summary, or if it's advertising.

Empress (the_empress) It is not against rule if it is the authors blog and not a book seller. GR has an option for adding an excerpt so it is not against rules.

I will message the author about this option.

Thanks, I wasn't sure whether there was a difference between book seller and blog when it came to advertising messages in plot summaries.

Virgil Moore (virgilallenmoore) | 2 comments I saw the thread on the summary. Sorry about that. It's been a while since I've updated things through all the different sites I am listed on. Once I saw these posts, I changed the summary immediately. Enjoy and let me know what you think;)

Empress (the_empress) Thank you for the quick response Virgil. I think having the excerpt directly on GR is more convenient for readers. No rules were broken though. ;)

Virgil Moore (virgilallenmoore) | 2 comments Thank you. Also, let me know if you'd like an advanced review copy of Demon Vampire.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments Pssst...it's also okay to link to author blog/website in the official url field (even if the link page is directly selling the book or gives links to buy at bookseller sites).

message 8: by Empress (new)

Empress (the_empress) Yes it is, it is the author's page after all.

Virgil you can provide a different blurb if you want but no reviews are allowed on the blurb itself. You can posts reviews from sellers and professional reviews as your review with and noting where the review comes from [link].

Debbie wrote: "it's also okay to link to author blog/website in the official url field"

But there's no reason to do so unless it's a link to a specific subpage about the book. I strip out general author page links when editing books.
