Introduction: Railsea discussion (spoiler-free)

Dear Mievillians

We've had a slight change of plan with our Railsea discussion. Richard, who was going to lead it for us, is unable to do it for us anymore, but some of our core members have voted for us just to carry on with the group discussion in any case, so we'll all just discuss it as we go along, no strict plan or time limits.

So! This and the other threads will grow as we progress. Please come and join in as your time schedule allows.

This here will be the 'spoiler-free' thread for general discussions that don't contain plot spoilers, and I'll set up progressive threads where we can post spoilers about what we're reading as we go, like we usually with our group discussions here.

I'll post some more of an introduction as time becomes available to me, but please, other members, if you've already read the book, or are busy reading it, please come and contribute here and in the other threads as we go along...-I need your help here, since I haven't read the book yet, and as mentioned, Richard simply hasn't got the time to help out.
