Evan Walker is Creepy, Right?

I think it's pretty likely she'll end up with Ben, but at this point he doesn't really know her much at all, so I'd definitely like to see that progression in the next book. I mean we still don't know if Evan made it out so who knows.

she ended up all snuggly with i cant really remember you, ben at the end right after Evan whom confessed his love for her and she basically returned (without words). i mean come on!!! what is not to love about him - protective, can cook, can hunt, is a survivor, has inside info on the aliens, hot, wears lumberjack shirts lol all that vs wimp ass ben lol jk jk i do like ben just not for cassie he should stick with trying to make ringer smile.

As for all the weird stuff, like hulking outside the room(s) - I put that down to him being an extra-terrestrial. lol

I'm personally all team Evan. Cassie was rude and always trying to find reasons to not like him, and all he wanted was for her to love him back. I do beleave his story about not wanting to tell her he was a silencer because she would in fact, have left if she knew and would have been killed due to her injury. The lurking around in the halls was just that he wanted to be close when she needed him. Where as Ben did not even remember the girl he rode the bus with through out middle school, because he was to worried about being a stuck up playboy. He did not even remember her by THE BABIES or her name. I still love Ben but I just wish Ben could focus on Ringer because I since a real connection between the two. Since they are so different from each other they work nicely together.

I think that the things that you (and other people) like about Evan are exactly the things that I dislike about him. I don't like how protective he is because it creeps me out, though I can see that he would be because he lost his sister (but it still creeps me out), cooking and hunting are probably required in the post-apocalypse days so that doesn't stand out to me as something special.
Caitlin wrote: "Cassie was rude and always trying to find reasons to not like him, and all he wanted was for her to love him back."
Well, yeah, of course she was looking for reasons not to like him. He kept her trapped in his house and changed her clothes while she was unconscious. I'm pretty sure that if I guy did that to me I would be looking high and low for other reasons to hate him. And I don't think that the way you get a girlfriend is to keep her trapped in your house and smother her with love until she returns the feelings.
And, on the topic of Ben, he basically was told to forget his past life completely, so if she had registered with him at all in school he probably blocked her out. And, besides, guys are not required to get to know all the girls at their school, so if she was just another face in the crowd when they were in high school I don't think he can be blamed for that.

I think it should be Ringer/Ben and Cassie/Sammy then hopefully an explanation about Evan.

I forgot about the diary thing! That just sends him up a notch in the creeper scale! If somebody read anything I ever wrote about myself/my life I think I would probably have to kill them, because that's personal and embarrassing, and it crosses the line. In fact, it's about 5 miles over the line.

This is the first time I couldn't pick between two guys for the main female protagonist.
I guess that means I'll be happy with whoever she ends up with? Unless someone else is introduced (I just hope he's not perfect like the other two). That would really mess up my head a lot.

Because truthfully I had mix feelings about Evan. I liked him but then I didn't. Some times I found his persistence a little too creepy. Like beyond the point of it just being because he loved her. I hope it doesn't turn into a love triangle but I also hope Ben doesn't end up with that other girl.
I'm not very found of her at all.

There were some things that he did that were okay. (I mean, sometimes he was sweet, I guess) but his creepiness was just too overpowering for me. Also, he was pretty insta-love-y, and I think that's why I couldn't justify his actions with "He loved her." Because he had just met her.

I never felt that Evan "kept" Cassie in the house or did not let her leave. She could not walk because of her injury. I think he was afraid for her safety. He just wanted to be around if she needed him, I don't find it creepy just caring and protective.
I believe Evan made up his mind/came to term/accepted his feelings for Cassie, that is why he chose to take care of her. After all, he was supposed to kill her but couldn't do it instead he got curious, so he knew her already. I think at that point he's already decided he was going to help her because he couldn't kill her.
Oh, sorry but I never felt that Evan kissed when she did not want to be kissed. He just did it and she never protested, never had a bad reaction after it.

Because I know I’m not crazy, and I didn’t make up the fact that she couldn’t escape from Evan, I went and looked in the book. I found this quote that illustrated my point. “If you try to leave, I’ll just follow. You can’t stop me, Cassie. How are you going to stop me?”
That sounds to me like she can’t get away from him. (So, I was slightly wrong that she couldn’t leave the house, but she still couldn’t get away from Evan) And I find that to be creepy. I know that that’s a personal preference thing, but I think that if Cassie wanted to get rid of Evan she should have been able to, and she couldn’t.

SPOILERS
I've decided to defend my statement. I'm not trying to hate on Ben because he was in fact my favorite character. Reading his parts in the book were the most entertaining for me because I loved how much his character has changed through out the book. As for Even I do completely feel he had the right to change her and bathe her. In the story It said something along the line of that she was asleep for days so why would he leave her in her own blood (her clothing was covered in blood and dirt). The dirt and blood could have caused additional infection that could have lead to something worse. If I were in such a situation I would be grateful that he tried to clean me up. It must just be me also, but I never once thought Even kept her "trapped" as you put it. She sure as hell could have left if she pleased. He was only looking out for her (I know,I know he was the on that shot her) But when I read his parts his words were laced with regret. She was being rude, I mean this Hot guy is here trying to help her and she's treating him as if she would have rather had her bones sucked dry by vultures than be anywhere near him. Lastly, "smother her with love until she returns the feelings". I felt him giving off more of a friendship vibe with her at first. Naturally he finally did confess his feelings for her. He felt strongly about her it's natural for him to develop feeling, they spent a lot of time together. The reading of her diary was defiantly a move I wish he did not do, But he did seem pretty convinced on the fact that he wasn't sure if she would make it or not.
I respect your opinion, but I do not agree with it.

I think this is one of the things that bother me about some of the pro-Evan arguments. (Not all, and I do recognize that there are some good pro-Eve-being-a-good-person arguments) but what your saying is that somebody is allowed to be creepy as long as they're attractive? I understand that his hotness did make a difference to Cassie, but it bothers me that it's a point in his favor. Hot people aren't always good and ugly people aren't always bad.
So, in my opinion, his hotness doesn't make him any less creepy.
I can see your point about trying to prevent infection, but he could have left her underwear on since her open wound was on her leg. Changing her clothes makes sense, changing her underwear is a violation of her privacy.
I agree that Cassie was being rude, but, personally, I think her rudeness was justified.
In my reading I never got a 'friendly' vibe from him. I physically cringed sometimes when he was in a scene, and I always saw his actions as a little bit too forward and sometimes forceful.
(I appreciate that we can disagree and still be civil. I know a lot of fandoms where that wouldn't be possible)

1. He DID save her life. He shot her in the leg, she was dying of blood loss, he cleaned her wound by bathing her (thereby diffusing any threat of infecting any other unseen wounds), while simultaneously curing her of HYPOTHERMIA. I believe his actions were well calculated, not creepy.
2. I don't recall one paragraph in which he kissed her without him wanting to.
3. Cassie was badly injured, in a world over-ridden with hostile alien lifeforms i'm sure if you saw someone hobbling outside the house on crutches you'd tell them to get back in as well - unless you wanted them to die, which clearly, Evan didn't.
4. Stockholm Syndrome can be ruled out as a possibility for her liking him solely based on the fact that Cassie chose to stay with him. Notice she never tried to ESCAPE, just follow him. I wouldn't want anybody following me either if i were him.
5. I don't know why he read her diary. You never read a girls diary. For that I will never forgive him.
I just love Evan, and it was hard for Cassie to even trust him let alone love him, despite all he did for her.

I know right. It seems that Ben and Ringer should be together...

i mean he is an alien and in an alien invasion human morals sorta slip the mind its about survival and finding something to live for. He did that not to mention if it wasnt for him she wouldnt have gotten sammy back.
I wanted to see how Ben reacted too but he seems more compatible with ringer.
The ending left me so on edge did Evan die or not and why was bens arm around cassie. There best not be a triangle :/
Anyways evan is a good person and cassie was fortunate to have been shot by him :)

Love u evan!

im not sure how I feel about him....
but I do not want her to end up with ben..thats just piss me off

The only thing Evan did that is inexcusable is reading Cassie's diary. I get the "I don't know if you are gonna wake" thing but he should have waited until he was actually dead before reading things that weren't supposed to be read by anyone but herself and gives him details about her deeper thoughts, feelings and fears.
Evan bathing Cassie is a little disturbing but she was filthy and a mess and it was a really good thing that he did it because she could have caught an infection. If Ringer would have bathed her to prevent an infection we wouldn't have been having this problem. It's not like he could have gone find another female to bathe her. If Val would have been alive and he would have bathed Cassie anyway or if he had the choice to take her to a hospital but he didn't THAT would have been creepy. He did what he had to do to keep her alive.
Evan didn't lock her down. She could have run away but she didn't. She was too weak to go anywhere alone and in more danger than before because she couldn't run. He taught her how to shot properly so she was able to defend herself better. Yeah, he hid her weapon but I'm really convinced that Evan is one of those male book characters that would let the girl they love do whatever she wants with him INCLUDING getting a knife from the kitchen and stabbing him without even a "WTF?! Are you insane?!!". He will probably go with: "I know I deserve this. I haven't been completely honest with you but you are gonna die without me so you should think a little more before stabbing me."
I'm not entirely sure if I believe in love at first sight or not but let's say I believe in it. Evan fell in love with Cassie enough to betray his entire kind for her. Yeah, he shot her but he didn't kill her and that's what he was supposed to do. He kept her alive regardless of who knows how many years of being told to do otherwise. It takes guts to go against everything you have ever known even if he was in good terms with the human Evan Walker.
Evan knew Cassie would be doomed without him and that's why he insisted over and over again on going with her even if she didn't want him there. He even offered going alone to keep her safe but he accepted what she decided to do. And he was RIGHT in the end! Besides being a killing machine he knows the inside and if he hadn't been there Sammy, Cassie and Zombie would be dead.
Evan didn't want to reveal what he was because he was afraid of Cassie rejecting him which is what would have happened if he had come clean the second they met. Cassie accepted it because she was already feeling things for him and even then she had some troubles accepting it. She took off.
I don't think Evan forcefully kissed her. Cassie told her no once but she wasn't really convincing and when he tried to kiss her again, one millisecond after the no, she kissed him back. That's a mixed signal that has more to do with Cassie's personal fights that with Evan himself.
Regardless of all I wrote I do believe Cassie reacts like a normal girl would do except for the "Would I trust him if he wasn't so hot?" part. All the questioning, the doubts and the paranoia are completely perfect imo. They live in an apocalictic world where humanity is mostly gone and most of the things she had seen in the past 4 months are horrible. She has every right to not trust this random guy who she doesn't know and who does things that doesn't fit with who he claims to be. I actually say Go Cassie! for being more realistic and not blindly trust in the hot guy who just saved you for not apparently good reason and who might be one of the Others or a dangerous human being.
I like Evan and I think most of his actions are justified, same as Cassie's. I want them to end up together.
I don't like Zombie for her. Zombie fits better with Ringer.
In another note, have anyone noticed that the words Cassie remembers of Evan teaching her how to shot are the exact same that Ringer uses with Zombie? And both, Ringer and Evan, mention chess? I might be looking too much into it but what if Ringer is one of the Others too?

Even though Cassie and Ben have some back history, i think him and Ringer will still end up together. They're just too compatible.. not to mention the fact that i love her. she's a great character, (She kind of reminds me of June from 'Legend' in some ways!).
Cassie and Evan will probably end up together anyways... assuming that he's alive..???
The ending really pissed me off! How could we just not know whether Evan made it out or not! Is there going to be a second book or not?! What?! Grrrrr!!!
Also, on the whole "Ringer being an Other" subject, that is very plausible. She did strike me as being different. She has incredible skills with guns (like Evan, and probably all undercover Others), and idk she just seems to be a little off. If that's the case, i think its ironic that she was fighting WITH the humans. Was/is she on a mission, or did she switch sides like Evan?
A second book needs to be written. Loose ends must be tied up.

(I'm serious, there's a spoiler coming up)
When she met up with Ben/Zombie I was really happy, because I became hopeful that she might end up with somebody other than Evan Walker. It's her crush, for crying out loud, please can she get together with him, instead. Please!
Edit
I forgot all about the reading her diary thing. That crosses a line, too. If somebody ever read my personal writings I could never forgive them for it.
And, let's not forget that he saw her naked (when he changed her clothes) before he even knew her.
Edit, again
Some proof from the text that Cassie was freaked out by him/that his behavior wasn't okay.
And then Evan Walker kisses me.
Holding my hand against his chest, his other hand sliding across my neck, his touch feathery soft, sending a shiver that travels down my spine into my legs, which are having a hard time keeping me upright. I can feel his heart slamming against my palm and I can smell his breath and feel the stubble on his upper lip, a sandpapery contrast to the softness of his lips, and Evan is looking at me and I’m looking back at him.
I pull back just enough to speak. “Don’t kiss me.”
He lifts me into his arms. I seem to float upward forever, like when I was a little girl and Daddy flung me into the air, feeling as if I’d just keep going up until I reached the edge of the galaxy.
He lays me on the bed. I say, right before he kisses me again, “If you kiss me again, I’m going to knee you in the balls.”
His hands are incredibly soft, like a cloud touching me.
“I won’t let you just…” He searches for the right word. “…fly away from me, Cassie Sullivan.”
He blows out the candle beside the bed.
(Evan to Cassie):
“If you try to leave, I’ll just follow. You can’t stop me, Cassie. How are you going to stop me?”
