Linda Dobinson Everyone would choose not to be shot in first place.

Amaya Apples Linda wrote: "Love Apples wrote: "Linda wrote: "Hu wrote: "it does make since he loves her right i mean she was filthy, she was bleeding for crying out loud her clothes were probably soaked with it and i actuall..."

that makes perfect since but why would he go out of his way to betray his "kind' to save cassies life and her brothers and you act like cassie and ben parish and ringer never killed people (HUMANS)

Amaya Apples Emma Jane wrote: "I did not like Evan I just thought he was weird. Ben was one of my favorite characters and I hope he and Cassie are together in the Infinite Sea. PLEASE DON'T LET EVAN COME BACK!!!

Anyway, I am so..."

YOU DONT MAKE SINCE!!!!

Amaya Apples ...........................its not really creepy yes at some points i luv evan ,but the thing is is you have a person you shot and they are at risk of dieing after of two days and they are freezing cold and probably are sick from hypothermia and you have to put them in something warm he didnt have a choice just like cassie didnt have a choice of stripping him naked and the like in the infinite sea well---grace had a choice but anyways ,evan loved her he had no choice cassie had no choice because hes the only thing that could keep her alive its that simple i mean opinions are opinions as i said it just does not make since saying he might molest her or somthing has nothing to do with it he could have done anything to a weak sixteen year old girl who didnt have a gun or anything to defend her self i mean would you thing that after saving her he would go and do anything .....i mean its just common since its obvious that none of that came to his mind he nursed her back to health but just because he undressed her and bathed her because she was probably in shock and probably had been really gold to the touch and at risk of dying and to other peoples eyes they say its a big of a fricking deal i would feel weird at first but i wouldnt say that he would want to hurt her at all isnt that obvious because he said when he was about to do a intrusion or whatever "i would never hurt you cassie" so isnt that obviouse he never obviously has and intend on hurting her he literally almost died trying to save her

Amaya Apples and also plus she commented on how well he was groomed um and then she asked him why she hoped it was her ...

Amaya Apples Linda wrote: "Everyone would choose not to be shot in first place."

at least he didnt kill her "choose to be shot" i agree but what the heck thats what ur focusing on just the shooting part not the part where he cared for her and did all the could to keep her alive ,i mean with out him Not trusting him doesnt make since because basically there would be no story or anything with out him there becuase cassie, ben,or sams wouldnt be alive he he didnt follow her there i mean perfect action but a stupid one at the same time but focusing on is the facts that he saved her form DYING and also the fact that she might have been in shock and that she could of have hypothermia and that she could have died if he didnt "bathe her "thats what other people focus on and also plus if he removed the bullet where would the blood go???thats why he "bathed her"in the fricking bath tub and removed her clothes because he had no other choice

Amaya Apples hold on wait where would the blood go if he didnt 'bathe" her ???who would want blood all over the place

message 208: by Emma (new) - rated it 3 stars

Emma Ok, normally I try not to feed the trolls, but you are the one not making "since", Love Apples. Trying to save someone when you are the one who purposely nearly killed them does not make up for shooting them. It wasn't an accident. He intentionally shot her. Anyone who wants to be with someone who shot them has serious issues. And why would anyone put stock in the words "I'd never hurt you" from someone who shot them? His actions cancel out his words. He stalked her like prey before shooting her like an animal. Even after he chose to save Cassie, he continued to hunt and kill other humans. He was a predator. He was obsessive about Cassie. He did not know her. He did not respect her boundaries. That is not love. That is something else entirely, and it is frightening.

The main thing is, Cassie's alarm bells were going off about Evan and she ignored them because she thought he was cute. In the real world, not a fictional love story, that can have some devastating repercussions. Excusing stalking, predatory behavior, lack of respect for boundaries, and physical abuse (what is more abusive than shooting someone and watching them while they nearly die?) because the person says they love you is not only naive, but it is dangerous. It's disappointing that this book encourages this kind of thinking in young women (and men) and it's even more disappointing that so many give in to it.

message 209: by GiwRgos (new)

GiwRgos Mentzos To me, if Evan was a human I'd completely buy it. Two of the last remaining humans, it's almost as if their subconscious would make them fall for each other. But yeah, him being a Silencer- to me it's flat out stupid how he'd fall for Cassie. But if we take that from granted, the creepy parts aren't undressing her and changing her clothes, or not letting her leave and die. It's him lurking all the freaking time.

actually in putting it in other words is the shooting part was intentional and also plus i think its reasonable as you said "he was a predator" he was just doing his job .....but then once he realized he saved her and also plus this book is "science fiction" read "fiction"and im pretty sure no young woman shes frickin sixteen she had to believe hes pretty much the only person who could save her she would be dead and "id never hurt you" that is a key "id never hurt you again"i mean yah its cruel but at least he can keep our main character alive so what if he stalked her like a predator when he realized she wasnt going no where thats the only way and after reading her journal he didnt know if he could kill her ,and also plus does it look like a alien invasion is happening right now and just think about it, its a "alien invasion" if it were a normal day with no problems maybe he wouldnt have to do that and he wouldnt be a silencer ,just because theres not any bullets being shot around by silencers he had to do he had no choice and bathing her and clothing her he had no choice nor did cassie when she had to strip him naked or anything i mean besides that and theres a reason he went over boundaries and also plus he just had his little sister die "protective" is a word he didnt want her to die i mean like what the heck and also plus he barely even knew her and also, she didnt stay with him just because he was cute she stayed with him because thats the only way she could stay alive and remembering her in "the 5th wave'she said "they only reason why im trusting you is because your good with a gun "you should be pointing the finger at ur self because you are not not making "since" this is not real life get the facts its that simple all your focusing on is the fact that he shot and her bathed her -.- smh

Brutus_ You're missing lots of points, Apples. I mean also the dots that separate one sentence from the other (which makes your text reader- friendly).
:offtopic:
Do you know a YA book where the main character dooesn't fall in love? Or atleast there is no triangle. And the fat people, are there any in YA? xD

Riley Pipers Same thoughts. Yea, Evan's sure a heck of creeper alright.
But I learn to like him anyway...

I dunno, I also like Ben- but.

I dont consider him creepy hes been lonely and also plus why wouldnt he act weird ,and also plus she was bleeding and sweaty and stuff like that i dont think he had a choice and he is nothing like edward -bleh-he doesnt watch her as she sleeps .anyways i dont think he had a choice she probably was shivering cold and probably at the edge of getting hypothermia ,bloody, sweaty, and wounded the wound probably was extremely infected from two days so he had to put her in water to warm her and then clean the wound and where would the blood go anyways and dressing her why would he want to have a naked girl in the bed i dont get why dressing her is such a problem??Also plus he probably had boundary problems because hes protective ,i didnt finish why he was acting weird probably because hes a SILENCER how was he going to act around a human even though he act like it his whole entire four years since his "awakening" .

that made me sad but i think it was just being protective :(

so wat he bathed her wouldnt you want to wake up not naked like and bathing her caught her from infection at least he didnt do what a usual dude would do.

message 218: by Book (new)

Book Im just glad they filmed part of this movie in Salt Lake Utah and I got to meet him.

message 219: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy i got creepy vibes from him but i feel like he cares for Cassie, he just has a weird creepy way of showing it.

message 220: by AUdon (new) - rated it 4 stars

AUdon Evan is not creepy, he's just really socially awkward.

message 222: by Abby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Abby I always shipped Cassie and Ben/Zombie so from the start i didn't like Evan but i totally agree with you, he creeps me out! He is a literal alien stalker!
I'm so glad im not the only one who doesn't ship Evan and Cassie cause i keep seeing people ship them and thinking "Why?! They are awful together!"
(I also hate Ringer, but thats a different problem and thats also because she got in the way of Cassie and Ben!)

frofrofro Kacie wrote: "I found that their relationship somehow felt unnatural, like it didn't all fit together. At first Evan was super creepy to me I was telling Cassie not to fall for him in my head! But then he sorta ..." Thank you for feeling the same Kacie!! Even walker is alright, but in my perfect world, Ben just ISNT allowed to be interested in ringer unless she's the protagonist.. OBVIOUSLY this is my messed up teenage girl mind speaking to you, but like, since when are the dreamy idols allowed to have their own lives?!!
Besides that, I don't approve of EvenxCassie, mostly because it all seems like a twisted case of Stockholm syndrome, but also because Even Walker isn't even human, so it's sort of like.. beastiality? (lol I have no idea how I came to that conclusion)
This is not to say that I don't think that the 5th Wave is one of the best books in the universe, because I love this book!! The plot and characters are well developed as well in my opinion, contrary to what it seems like I think

message 224: by Mari (new)

Mari Are yoiu seriously that stupid? Do you think that doctors and nurses that tend to the wounded are creepy? If you do not clean wounds they infect and kill people. He did what was needed. I think people take this whole "yes means yes" thing a bit too crazy.

message 227: by Lola (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lola Flores Wow I think I'm the only one who DOESNT think Evan Walker is creepy. I think that he HAD to shoot her in the beginning because otherwise the people who were the "aliens" would've killed him or something. Also, he had the choice to let her die and instead chose to save her life which he could've gotten killed for. And he had to continue killing people in his area or the "aliens" could've found out he wasn't and done something to him. Also some people were saying that Evan didn't actually love Cassie but he did and that was proven at the end when Cassie got his thoughts. Cassie also knew he wouldn't hurt her because even though she was in denial of his love for her, she knew that he did indeed care for her and would put his own life before hers. Overall I think Evan Walker was actually my favorite character and I hope that I might've changed some people's mind with this.

my mind is not changed with all due respect. When cassie wanted to leave him he wouldn't let her. he read her diary, for pete's sake. I don't think that has anything to do with her survival. there are a lot of other reasons that i think I have o mention at all.

Just to top it all off, saving her didn't justify for all of his creepiness

message 232: by Emma (new) - rated it 3 stars

Emma Lola wrote: "And he had to continue killing people in his area or the "aliens" could've found out he wasn't and done something to him."

Are you actually justifying killing innocent people to save yourself?! I'm sorry, but that makes you a horrible person, possibly even a psychopath. How would you feel if someone killed people you loved because someone else threatened them? Oh, wait, you are a psychopath, so you can't love.

message 233: by Lola (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lola Flores U know, I know most people don't believe this, but I believe that in some circumstances killing is ok. I don't like that he was killing innocents, but at the same time, I would rather be dead during this time than survive with the ongoing fear and terror.

message 234: by Gabi (new) - rated it 4 stars

Gabi I Think Evan is really interesting as a character, but not great as a love interest. He was just creepy, and he crossed boundaries he shouldn't have. I think Cassie would have been better with Ben or alone. But of course, we can't have a YA book that has no love interest.

Do you think a main character is witty?
