Sandy (sandykuro) | 43 comments I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I was hoping to revisit a book that I remember reading and loving! But for the life of me I can't remember the title!
The plot is something along the lines of... The h's uncle/guardian(maybe father but I don't think so) hates her and decides to marry her off to this totally scary guy. He is called demon or devil and is perhaps scarred? Anyway the he can't go pick up his wife who he doesn't really want anyway, so he sends a knight. The knight comes in and the guardian calls the h. She is terrified and huddles on the ground (the guardian beats the crud out of her) The knight takes her back... and the rest of the story is about H healing and what not the h, etc.
Not much to go on but if you think you know I would really appreciate the help!
Thanks
peace
sandy

Gigi | 833 comments This sounds like Julie Garwood's The Bride. I don't remember the beating part, sorry I have an old brain.

The Bride (Lairds' Fiancées, #1) by Julie Garwood

Gigi | 833 comments Although, that may not be right because the father loved her and tried to keep her "his favorite" daughter out of sight.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Sounds like Devil of the Highlands (Devil of the Highlands, #1) by Lynsay Sands - only the guardian is a stepmother not an uncle. The hero's nickname is Devil.

Another possibility is The Secret (Highlands' Lairds #1) by Julie Garwood - I can't remember if her uncle beat her but he is an alcoholic. Also, the heroine is traveling to visit a friend not to marry.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments So, does the heroine end up with the knight or the scary/scarred husband to be?

message 7: by Zayne (new)

Zayne I also have a "name that book" related question. If I should start a new thread, let me know!

There is a book series that I can't for the life of me remember the name of, but I want to revisit. In the first book, Dak (?) is possessed by a daemon and there's an evil daemon that takes over a bunch of stone statues in the town. In the subsequent books, more men (drool) come to the town, portals are found in Shaska Mountain, there's a lost world in the mountain (or accessible through the mountain), oracles, more daemons, etc.

Any help?

Zayne And actually, Sandy, are you talking about Julie Garwood's "Honor's Splendour"? Honor's Splendour by Julie Garwood

She ends up with the scary guy... it turns out it like a hard exterior and he's a sweetie inside.

Definitely not The Secret (Highlands' Lairds #1) by Julie Garwood I clearly remember the scene when the knight type guy comes to pick her up in the stead of her husband to be. She's cowering on the floor and he is worried that she is so cowardly to be afraid of the man she is marrying... something like that.

Yea there is definitely nobody from her family that loves/protects her.
