Yvanka (gasoline) I bought Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir, because I needed a laugh and this book surely succeeds on making that happen so far. =)

message 4: by Yvanka (new)

Yvanka (gasoline) Kenny, thank you so much for mentioning that book. I feel like I need to read that one as well! For the very obvious reason that I'm a woman, hahaha.

Sam (theliteraryhooker) Yesterday I picked up The Ocean at the End of the Lane and Star Cursed (sorry can't link from my phone!) Ocean because Neil Gaiman is my absolute favorite author, and Star Cursed because I read the first book last year and really enjoyed it. I started Ocean last night and so far I'm really enjoying it! :)

Elena Boteva (lenahbkp) Well yesterday I order a bunch of books from the Amazon bargain bin, but then I went grocery shopping, and saw Nevermore by James Patterson and decided that I have to have it. Though I don't have the first seven books in the series, so I won't be reading it until I get those.
I have a slight book-bying-addiction-problem...

Oh I read Ocean at the End of the Lane in one day. Just such a darling (and short) book! I hope you liked it too.

Pocki The last book I bought was actually Gray's Anatomy. Yes the actual book, not anything to do with that medical show. Why? Well, it was on sale at B&N and I do study osteology so I thought it'd be neat. I've always been fascinated by anatomy anyway so yeah. I won't read it though. Bits here and there of course, and look at the pictures, but I didn't buy it to read. I bought it cause I want to have it.

The last book I got really excited about buying was Napoleon's Privates (bought it a couple of weeks ago. One of the first days of my vacation actually). I saw the spine, which means just the title, on one of B&N's bargain shelves with other history and military books and I snickered at the title. Cause you know. Gotta have some immature humour. My friend started to pick it up and me (and other friend) exclaimed "No! Don't ruin the fun!" Cause obviously we thought it was about actual boring privates in his army. The girl who picked it up simple laughed and went "I don't think this ruins it".... Well, it turned out to be a book about Napoleons actual private parts, among a bunch of other things. Naughty bits in history. Had to buy it. Absolutely hilarious book.

I have a book buying problem when I'm on vacation. I tend to pick up random books on sale. NOT good for when you have a single suitcase and a weight limit.

Tara'e One of the few last books I got was a separate country an everything beautiful in the world. I got them both for a few reasons:
1. they were only a dollar each(gotta love the dollar tree)
2. I have a problem
3. Their title was appealing
4. A separate country is in my genre of interest (history or historical fiction)

Colleen Fauchelle | 41 comments I buy heaps of books and they are all over the house. I can't help it I love books.
The Sea Inside by Philip Hoare. I love the ocean and this book sounded intresting and it has New Zealand in it, what can I say.
The Vesuvius Isotope by Kristen Elise. I tried to win this book but missed out, however the author let me know I could buy a signed copy for a good price. So I got it. She signed it to me and sent me bookmarks and bits about the book. Which was so good of her.
I love Goodreads :)

message 22: by Bella (new)

Bella (throneofpages1) I just picked up Shades Of Earth from the mail (AH SO EXCITED) and what made me choose it is the fact that I fell in love with the first and second book in the trilogy (Across the Universe trilogy) and I just NEEDED to know how it ended

message 23: by Bella (new)

Bella (throneofpages1) I just bought Anna and the French Kiss written by Stephanie Perkins and what made me buy it was the fact that a friend of mine sent me the pdf and it was TORTURE trying to not read it, so i finally did. Leafed through it really. and I decided it was too good to not buy it and have my own hardcover copy. AND I JUST FINISHED READING IT AND I AM IN LOVE.

message 24: by Amalia (new)

Amalia (glxtterdew) I just bought "A Shadow Over Innsmouth" by H.P. Lovecraft. I bought this book because it had an intriguing blurb even though it was short. I also bought it because I was curious as well as it sounded different to now-a-days novels. I also decided to pick it since I heard H.P. Lovecraft was an excellent author if his time 1890-19??.

message 30: by Paula (new)

Paula (paulispinel) | 3 comments The last books I bought were Rosario Tijeras by a colombian author, and two others from spanish authors: La sombra del viento (the shadow of the wind) and Nada (nothing) and I bought them because 1. there was this 2x3 books promo! and 2. I wanted to read the first one since a while ago, and I read about the second one and found it interesting. The last one, Nada, I picked it up almost randomly! (not an usual thing for me to do) I read the backcover and liked it, and took the risk :) and kind of 3. I wanted to read spanish books by spanish-speaking authors!
