A Game for Swallows To Die, To Leave, To Return by Zeina Abirached Rating *** Read June 3rd 2013 Graphic Novel/Nonfiction categories
This novel has a fairly tight focus. For the most part it shows only one night in the war torn city of Beirut. But that one night is telling. The author's parents are stuck at the grandparent's house during a bombing and you get to meet all the neighbors who come to them because they have the safest location in the apartment building. You get to know a lot of the people and you get a glimpse of their lives.
Overall I thought it was a good novel. I did not particularly appreciate the art. And it was occasionally confusing with all the different people being introduced in such a short time. But it was touching and I would recommend it for older teens.
