I KNOW.

Ugh, I was so awkward because I've trained myself at work to be apathetic towards all the bands and stuff but the excitement in seeing him made me so nervous I think he could tell. I told him about how I worked at a venue and we talked for like 15 min. I saw him later and got my pic with him. He's so sweet! If you have a Wizard World con in your area I suggest meeting him!

Mayra Perez | 17 comments @Jennifer I would have had the dorkiest grin on my face if Daryl even smiled at me and said hi in his sexy voice lol..

Valerie Sparkle Hi I'm Valerie and I read a lot of YA and I'm an adult.

message 357: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Schneider (madamemelli) Hello everyone!

I'm Melanie from Germany and work in a library (sadly in a scientific one but we also got YA).

I like to read very different stuff but keep coming back to YA so I thought maybe I can get here some inspiration.

message 358: by Mayra (new)

Mayra Perez | 17 comments @Jennifer awww that's super cute. He's a sweetheart

message 359: by Holly (new)

Holly Smith | 4 comments Hello Melanie, and welcome to the group. What kind of YA do you like to read?

Caia_In_Wonderland (writingcaia) Hello, Caia here. I'm 32, almost 33, and I love YA books!

message 361: by Mary (new)

Mary (irishgirly) | 3 comments 46 yo mom of a 14 yo boy.. Blahhh! (That went by fast!). I have been working at our local library for almost 6 months and have picked up a few YA books. I have really enjoyed them and that took me by surprise :). Just starting Tease. Wow!

message 362: by Mayra (new)

Mayra Perez | 17 comments @Caia hi what ya book are you currently reading or just finished reading?

message 363: by Mayra (new)

Mayra Perez | 17 comments @Mary B how is Tease going, can you tell me a little bit about it?

message 364: by Tytti (new)

Tytti (tyttih) My name is Tytti and I'm Finnish.
I read 24/7 and it's usually YA most likely to be fantasy or scifi.

message 365: by Tanya (new)

Tanya Thurling | 1 comments Hi everyone. My names Tanya and I'm 27. Im pretty new to Goodreads but I'm very glad I found it. I love most books but YA is one of my favourites. Please feel free to add me as a friend. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone :)

message 366: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kaylajonesreader) | 1 comments Hi, I don't think I've introduced myself yet, so here goes.
I'm a young woman looking for YA, maybe some MM/FF, (cozy) mysteries
and adventure books.
I feel all alone because I'm new, so please add me, mail me, poke me,
whatever!
I need friends and book suggestions and then I'll be happy. :)

message 367: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 17 comments Hii everyone new that I missed to say hi to. Feel free to add me I'm Jenny. :)

I've been working warped tour for the past few days hahaha.

I've officially become jealous! How is..."

Oh I just worked a few dates doing promotions and photos and booth stuff for a few bands. :) It's a lot of fun this year for warped, one of the bands I worked for I didn't like musically too much but their crew was awesome, they're called Courage My Love from Canada.

message 369: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 1 comments Hi everyone, my name is Andrea, I'm Australian, and I'm a huge YA fan! I'm currently reading the last book in the Die For Me series, it's a pretty good paranormal/YA series :)

message 370: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 17 comments @Sadie the whole "scene" is a mixed bag. Warped was actually a great time due to the sick people I met which can be a rarity in my area. It was a nice break from the venue I typically work at which is same old same old. Comic con is more fun hahahah.

message 371: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 17 comments @Andrea hiiii and welcome! :)

message 372: by Kate (new)

Kate Wrath Hi everyone! Add me to the group of adults that read YA. I also write it, though, so I have an excuse! ;) (As if I need one, right?)

I'm very pleased to meet you all and look forward to talking about great books.

My current favorite is Markus Zusak's The Book Thief. I would recommend this book to anyone. It was just so good. I also like sci-fi, especially dystopian, and fantasy. I'm pretty open to suggestions, though. In actuality, I read a pretty wide range of stuff.

Add me as a friend if you like. I love meeting other readers and talking books.

message 373: by Mark (new)

Mark | 5 comments Welcome Kate. I love that The Book Thief is narrated by Death. I thought it was a genius way to lighten the mood of the story. Huh, that seems a little like an oxymoron when I read that back, but hopefully you know what I mean!

Ha! It did, didn't it. But I also thought it was just beautiful and poetic. But I feel like I should never tell anyone who narrated it, if they haven't read it. I opened the book without so much as reading the back cover, and it was just perfect. I love going into books with nothing, and letting the author reveal everything to me.

K.T. Blaine | 2 comments Hi!

I love reading-YA, mystery and historical are my favorites. If they're all together, so much the better! :) I also like writing fiction.

Other things I like: time with family, playing with my son, drawing, dreaming of travel and drooling over cooking magazines.

message 377: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 17 comments @Kate I'm looking to read The Book Thief! :)

Jennifer (jcreamer) | 2 comments I'm Jennifer. I am no longer chronologically a young adult, but I still feel like one on the inside.

I teach sixth grade, and I find myself drawn to children's and YA literature. I like reading all genres but have been into sci-fi and dystopia in the last few years. I have been making a conscious effort to be more diverse in my reading.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) Hello everyone my name is Shy and I am a huge YA lover and have 3 kids one of them being a 13 year old girl that loves YA just as much as I do. I look forward to meeting you all.

I love doing buddy reads with my 14 year old. She always has a perspective about the book that I don't. I think I'm more obsessed with YA than she is though.

message 383: by Erin (new)

Erin Dunning | 1 comments Hello all!!

I'm Erin. I love YA novels and have intense, detailed discussions with my sister on the books we read. While I love my sister and our conversations about our books, I thought I would branch out and have discussions about the books I love with others.

I am a counselor at a high school, so I get lots of book recommendations from my students.

I look forward to discussing!

message 384: by Kristy (last edited Aug 20, 2014 11:42AM) (new)

Kristy | 1 comments My name is Kristy. I'm a library director at a small public library in Northern New York. Part of my job is to order all of the books for the library. I started reading a lot of our new YA books so that I could make recommendations to patrons (we have just as many adults who read YA as teens!) Then I just didn't want to stop. One of my favourite (I'm Canadian) books is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. In May I attended the teen book fest just outside Rochester and had a chance to listen to AS King, Andrew Smith, Laurie Halse Anderson, Paolo Bacigalupi, and a lot of author wonderful authors speak about their work.

I'm thinking of starting a reading group at the library for adults who read YA to see where that takes me!

Really looking forward to getting new reading ideas and having discussion in this group!

message 385: by Steve (new)

Steve Griffin Hi, I'm Steve and I live in the Surrey Hills south of London. I read widely and particularly love YA and middle grade where I think a lot of real innovation has gone on in recent years, taking a lot of tired formulae from 'adult' fiction and reinventing it. Having small children I've been on a bit of a domestic assault course for the last three years, but am now finding more time to read (and write) again!

message 386: by Judy (new)

Judy | 9 comments Hi, Kristy! My name is Judy and I am a 65 year old grandmother of 7 and I love to read but in the past 5 years or so have discovered YA literature and it is my favorite! The Twilight series got me started, then on to Hunger Games, Divergent, the Mortal Instruments, and the latest I read was The 5th Wave. I am constantly discovering new series. I think your idea of a reading group for adults at your library is a fantastic idea. I love discussing these books with fellow fans, but especially with fans who are my contemporaries!

Hi Kirsty

My name is Mya and I'm the teen librarian at a public library in New Zealand. I think the idea of having a book club for adults reading young adult fiction is an awesome idea! I'm constantly looking for other adults to spread the greatness of teen fiction around to. We've just started up a group between school librarians and the local public librarians and it's been going great. Unfortunately we only meet up about 6 times a year:-( hope it goes well for u!

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Hello everyone! My name is Margaret. I'm 25 years old, and I love YA books, among other genres of course. ;)
