lurve you!
Hi all, I'm Sara. I'm 25-years-old and I love YA fiction! I'm trying to move away from what I call "YA Cheese" (the pink and purple sparkly books) and read more... substantial YA books, but... well, like Kandice said--it sounds like an AA meeting...
Hi I'm April, I love YA books, I'm 21. I love getting recs, I generally add every rec to my TBR. I also buy a ton of books, but I am hoping to build my classroom library, so if anyone can suggest some excellent YA historical fiction, that would be fantastic!!
*whispers to April: Messsssengerrrrrr*I Am the Messenger
It's not historical fiction, but I'll think about that one for you...
Now I think we should baptize the group by joining in together on our theme song, which is of course "Wild Things"....I'll get us started.....
Wild thing...

Hey there...I am Natalee.... 34... Texas. A few of you may recognize (?) me from a couple other groups. Although, I am not very vocal, I do read majority of the posts. I think I was overwhelmed and didnt know where to jump in. I hope to participate a lot here so if I appear to be MIA, please yell at me. :) I love YA books and find them refreshing reads. Hoping to hear all of your POVs on books I've read or am reading. I also look forward to your new recommendations... and a lot of fun too. Ummm, thats all. For now. :)
Hi everyone,Thanks for the invitation, Laura, and thanks to you and Fiona for creating this group. I love YA and look forward to talking with all of you.
Kathy,I read a lot at my job and I read a lot of Junior Fiction and YA books for my job.. so I guess I'd think it was more impossible if I were reading all 300 or paged books.
Hi Stephanie, Mel, Sara, April, Natalee and Beth,Welcome to the group!!
I think this group is going to be a lot of fun. :~)
Hi everyone. I'm Randi. Laura,
If you are old, I am ancient at 56. I love YA books.
I also write. I also crochet, crossstitch, scrapbook, and crewel. I also want to learn embroidery, tatting, and how to play the violin.

Hey Randi, we'll be old together! Get your walker, I'll get my cane, and we'll be all set. Ooops, forgot my false teeth!
Hey Randi, we'll be old together! Get your walker, I'll get my cane, and we'll be all set. Ooops, forgot my false teeth! What? no balloons? no playhouse? no cookies?
I'm open to old-old, young-old, really just extremely flexible on this point.*makes balloon animals to hand out*
If they are helium balloon animals, you can wrap a small strand of hair in a fold and they will float above your head as if you are having a thought! There's a restaraunt here that does that!I am in the old group too. Will we need Ben-Gay, do you think?
Sara TX,I always have my names end in my name, randi. I look for words that end in -r, -ra, you get the idea. This time I decided to be a little ornery and make it a big, long name, but you can all call me Randi.
I felt so old about two months ago. We had a church party with balloons, and I taught a kid (who is 12) how to suck helium out of a balloon to make your voice go up 2 octaves. ("It's a small world after all...") I thought this was common knowledge! Do young kids not know things like that anymore?PS - I LOVE the smell of BenGay!
When I was in elementary school, there was an administrator whose hair was dyed so dark black, it looked purple.... It was awesome!
You should try the floating helium animal balloons. Very, very funny. Need some Metamucil, Laura? ...:)
Hi all, I joined just this minute. I'm 22, and I just didn't grow out of reading YA. (Here's hoping I won't, ever!)
I'm 44. I didn't want to admit that at first but I can see that I'll fit right in with a lot of you!
Thanks, ladies! (Are there any males in this group? I'm wondering if reading YA when you're an adult is a female thing?)
Sorry, Fiona. I am female. That's what the -i at the end means. I know a lot of people don't know that, but that was how I decided to show the difference.
To make you feel better, I generalized the pic of flowers to her being female.. you're not the only bias party.
Hi! Thanks for the invite Laura :)The older I get the more I enjoy YA (even some middle grade) books! Speaking of age....I'll be 50 this year. Glad that Randi's here so that I'm not the only one in the 50's! I have 2 grown children (older than some of you) and 3 grandchildren. My 'baby' is getting married this June.
I love the energy here!
Hi Lynlee4. Welcome to Wild Things. I know what you mean about the energy thing. I love it too. Welcome to the 50s crowd.
