So i was reading this book, and in the end it talked about how Uncle Dervish thought that he was alot stronger than he should be. What i dont understand is why he is so magically powerful. He was strong enough to make his magic hide from Dervish's magical radar sense. I think maybe it was because he came from a long line of magicians, or maybe he unlocked all his abilities when he first fought against Lord Loss and his familiars. What do you think?

i think its the case of a lot of hidden potential that he is able to unlock in strong emotional situations, such as the few battles with lord loss. sounds like its gonna be a harry potter type thing where he becomes one of the most powerful magical beings because of his emotionally traumatic past.
