Starting this a little early, or late, depending on how you look at it :-) starting off with book number one!! I haven't read these books, just watched the television show. Curious to see how much they are alike and or different.

Perfect! I am on chapter 10, so far I am liking this better than the television show. I'm going to hate comparing all the way through but I know I will :-)

I've never seen the show, but I really want to! If I like the book, I'll definitely add it to my list of things to watch :)

I haven't watched the last couple of seasons, I like to binge watch, and I haven't had much time lately. I've been so busy reading!! I think the books are better, because you can do so much more in a book, if you know what I mean ;-)

The books are absolutely always better, I agree :) Binge watching is the best way to watch things!

I think it has been so long since I watched the first season, that I'm enjoying the first book, because it's like revisiting old friends. Things are a bit different however.

Victoria, The book is very good. I think there is a significant difference between book and show, and you won't have that, so I think you will probably like the books even better then the rest of us :-)

I've just started, I'm up to chapter 2. It's darker than I expected, but I think it's about to get more girly. I'm enjoying it so far :)

Faves in this series or overall? My alltime favorite book is The Color Purple but that doesn't say much since I normally dislike historical fiction :)

I like historical fiction ;-) yes, overall, you can also tell me what books you like best in the series. . I think I would have a hard time answering that question, so I don't know if it's really a fair one :-) I think the best books I have read in the past six months would be Gone girl, Dark places, Sharp objects, are you seen a theme ;-) I do like a good psychological thriller! I do have to say though I did not like The Girl on the Train, much at all. . YA books I have really like this year All The Bright Places, i'll Give You The Sun , And Eleanor and Park. I also really enjoyed the Legend, trilogy. I like historical fiction ;-) yes, overall, you can also tell me what books you like best in the series.

Book one, chapter 17

(view spoiler)[ Nice parenting, rewording Hannah for shoplifting ;-) I do like this so far, little different from the show, and a little the same. I don't remember Hannah being quite the little witch that she is, and I don't remember Emily's sexuality being addressed this early. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 10. This is the lightness I was expecting! (view spoiler)[ Icelandic Aria is my favourite. Okay, yes, she's a bit of a skank. But I like her confidence. Hanna is so fake, I hate that. I mean, obviously they all are. But she seems to be more fake than the rest. I hope they all become friends again. The mysterious A will bring them together, right? I'm sure that's what I remember hearing from people who watch the show... (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 22 (view spoiler)[ Poor Hanna! Yes, okay, she shouldn't try and force Sean into having sex when he clearly doesn't want to. But she just wants to be loved. The poor girl is so alone. Mona isn't exactly a great best friend for her either; they both value being pretty far too much. Aria needs to stop flirting with her teacher, it's freaking me out. Emily and Maya need to stop flirting, at least until Emily has broken up with Sean. They clearly both like each other, but she's insisting on staying with someone she doesn't like! I feel like I don't know Spencer as well as the other three. I'm really invested in what the other three are doing, but I don't even know what Spencer is up to at the moment. Flirting with her sisters boyfriend again? Yeah, that's right, flirting, and being a terrible sister (hide spoiler)]

Finished book 1! (view spoiler)[ Um, what?? How did they find Alison's body? I had fully accepted that she was the one sending the texts, but I guess not... I was even going to argue it while we found out other clues. But I'm going to struggle to now! Emily needs to stop overthinking her life, and get with Maya. Spencer and Aria need to sort out their love lives. Those two older guys clearly like them, they just need to be classier about getting with them. Especially Spencer. That's horrible to poor Melissa! And if Hanna could stop shop lifting, that'd be great. I need the second book, because I'm really invested in all four lived now. And most importantly, WHO IS A?!? (hide spoiler)]

She seems to not have any self worth. Her struggle with her weight has probably made her this way, and also her dad criticizing her about her weight is just sad. I'm reading Flawless now, I agree the first book can be all over the place, but I think that is what I like about it :-) I'm guessing it is a lot more confusing if you have not watched the show.. As in the first book Spencer's parents might need to take some parenting classes, they are driving me crazy!

I'm starting to like the book more. Things are getting very interesting now. There is just so much going on it gets a bit confusing. It's like a soap opera. The book makes me want to watch the show now. I've added to my Netflix list. Lol. I agree that the parents definitely need parenting classes, and the girls need some counseling.

Does the show follow the books very well?

From what I have heard a couple of things-actually quite a bit of things-were changed from the book.

There are some definite differences, and I think at some point they completely go in separate ways, not sure when.

Chapter 11: (view spoiler)[I feel horrible for Hannah because she was driven to do that. If her mom paid more attention she might not have the same problem. Also, the life style that she is in is way too much pressure! (hide spoiler)]
