I'm going to ask this question outside a spoiler, I live in California and people are pretty liberal around here. Would it really be all that big of a deal for a girl to come out in high school where any of you live? Just curious, my oldest nephew is gay and it didn't seem to be all that big of a deal. Also my daughter was a competitive dancer for many years and there are a lot of gay guys in the dance world :-)

Not where I live it wouldn't as two of my friends have come out. However, I feel since they live in an upper class area the people are set in their ways and aren't so accepting. Yes, there are lots of gay guys in the dance/theater world.
You are probably right about that, I forgot the whole upper upper class thing, I guess I've never lived that kind of life, and I'm actually glad about that ;-)
Oh, neither have I! I'm kinda glad, but not at the same time if that makes any sense? Also, at about Chapter 14 and the book is getting really intense!
Lucas, maybe she dated a Lucas before Caleb, I don't remember. I just know I really liked her with Caleb.
I'm originally from Georgia, and now we live in South Carolina. When I was growing up being gay was a bit taboo. There were a few gay guys that everyone knew they were gay, but they didn't come out until after high school. There were many lesbians, but not too many people treated them differently. I think it's harder on the guys. Now fast forward 15-18 years. My little sister is 15 and most of her friends are gay, or bisexual. No one seems to have a problem with it at all. I think people are more accepting of it now.
That is for sure, nobody was gay when I was in high school which was 25 years ago, I mean they were they just weren't open about it, now it doesn't seem to be any kind of big deal at all, which is definitely progress and I'm glad it is the same way in the south.

I wonder what type of upbringing the author had, because I have yet to see an example of good parenting. I know it's a work of fiction, but geez give me one good parent. (view spoiler)
Yes, officially!! I'm hoping the bad parenting is just to add drama to everything, I know I am a very open and liberal parent, but please!
Yes, we are :) Im up to the third, and there are two people reading the second, and I think Berit is reading the fourth at the moment
I'm 50% done with this book and I am absolutely loving it I am going to say again I love how it varies a bit funny TV show I still wanna know who a is though
I really like the TV show I didn't even know it was based on books until I heard everyone talking about it in our chat group
I think I've seen a few episodes, which were really good, but it was like season 4 so I didn't continue.Back to the book though, I wish Spencer and Melissa would become friends, I'd like that a lot.
I hate how her family treats her yeah I know she did something wrong and they got a right to be upset with her but cutting her off and putting it back into your old bedroom and not actually talking to her that's going to bit far just my opinion
Chapter 5- Yes the parents are still horrible. I started watching the tv show and the parents are so different(at least in the 1st 4 episodes I've watched) (view spoiler)
No they are totally different in the show, plus they really don't play that major role , Chapter 11(view spoiler)
