I can't believe I was so stupid not to consider searching 'Catwalk'!Glad I've found it now though, looking forward to reading it again!
Intended age-range: Adult (it's a bit sexy)
Author: Model, don't know her name, inside cover pic (I think) showed short dark hair, pretty face
Published: 80s/90s - the clothes described had a definite 90s feel, and technology mentioned was of those decades, haircut of author defo 90s bob.
The characters: Kate (unsure of surnames) - British, red-headed model; Roe - American, Kate's love interest, businessman, takes control of a famous-but-aging fashion house in Paris; Bea - Kate's best friend and flatmate also a model; Rachel (poss Rachel Taylor?)- designer, picked by Roe to bring the fashion house to the modern woman; Jack - (poss Scottish) Rachel's dad, golf pro, romantic interest of Bea; Skander - love interest of Kate, ex-wife (poss Norwegian) left him despite his caring for her when she had a chronic illness.
The plot: shows Kate's and Bea's journeys as models, their model friends, catwalks and photoshoots from Dubai to London to a department store in an English seaside town (or similar unglamourous place! One funny incident I remember from a photoshoot of Bea's is when she's 'hand-modelling' for a jewellers, and forgets to shave her underarms, so she has to pluck with tweezers nabbed from the make-up lady - I always remember my underarms because of this scene!!
The settings: Paris, Dubai, Italy, UK, America
The cover: the edition I read (though I'm not sure if there were any other editions!) had a gorgeous red-head on the front, burgundy top, black skirt and endless legs in black tights and heels, in a walking motion and with a jacket/bag on her out-swung arm.
It's maddening to remember so much about the book and not the title!!!
