I'm finally reading Sharon Kay Penman!!! Many friends, who also love Historical Fiction, have been recommending her books for years. Reading LIONHEART and enjoying every page!
Currently reading The Non-Silence of the LAMBhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FYNDZJQ/r...
or at www.TheNon-SilenceoftheLAMB.com
I'm reading "Paris without end" The true story of Hemingway's first wife. In researching whether to get this one or the more recent best seller I discovered that much of "The Paris Wife" was drawn from this older book which had the added advantage of including hours of tapes by Hadley in which she discussed openly and fondly her marriage to Hemingway during which time she largely supported them (him) on a trust fund that allowed him more financial freedom than some of the other ex patriates of the time Including Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. The Hemingway's like the Fitzgerald's continued to love each other long after their separation . Hemingway wrote of Hadley who he corresponded with for years said of his first wife; I wish I had never loved anyone after her. ( quote paraphrased). I'm also continuing my Historical Fiction theme that I've been burning through lately and started "Roses have Thorns: A novel of Elizabeth I by Sandra Byrd. It deals with court of Elizabeth I and the brutality and treason leading up to the beheading of Unfortunate Mary Queen of Scott's.
So far I'm not in love with the Hemingway book. I was lead there by my recent read of "a novel of Zelda Fitzgerald who I've always been interested in 1 ). because she was from Montgomery Alabama 2). When I lived in Montgomery her home was a par tents were we ha d CRO q jetted tournaments and 3) many of Scott's articles w ere acknowledged to have been written by her and either released jointly to entirely under his name. And. Their lives were fascinating and was the first celebrity "created" by Scott who after working in advertising saw the far reaching way to manipulate interest and therefore funds just by "playing" characters that they ultimately lost their real selves into. AND Zelda blamed the failure of her marriage on Hemingway and from what I've read frankly I wouldn't have liked either . Hemingway had had a way of venally ostracizing himself from everyone who ever tried to befriend him and Zelda and he never even pretended at friends. They just openly fought over Scott and many thought the manly man Hemingway & Fitzgerald were more than buddies for cocktails.
If anyone has finished The Paris wife give me your thoughts. Frankly I have learned to dislike Hemingway so much now I might just stop where I am unless the Paris wife is outstanding! I've never loved his books dispute his reputation. He seemed to be an alcoholic drunk har cared only for himself and used everyone he met until no on would even have him for a drink.
The first sel
Hi, Tommie--I haven't read _Paris Without End_, but I did read _The Paris Wife_ for one of my book clubs and I liked it a lot. (If I'm remembering right, most of us did.) It did NOT make me like Hemingway as a person, but it did make me better appreciate his writing style, and Hadley herself comes off as very likable. I enjoyed the descriptions of the era as well. --Laura

Currently reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie. Just finished W is for Wasted, Silken Prey, & The Lion's Game. I love to read a good series!
I am reading Dark Witch by Nora Roberts. I love all of Nora Roberts Trilogies but this one is a little slow hope the other two books are faster pace.
Currently reading The October Killings. I went in to check out Gone Girl and saw this book from a row over and thought it might be interesting, seeing that I like African Lit. So far it hasn't really won me over, but I'm on chapter 8.
Eat, Pray, Love and Twilight as more market research writing in the romance genre. Yes, I know these stories have been out for quite a while, but I didn't come out of the closet as a romance writer to see what others had been doing until after I wrote and completed 3 of my own this year. Now to get out and market them is the greater challenge.
