Ken Follett is a classic and writes very readable historical fiction. Enjoy!

The Salt Path by Raynor Winn. It has now been made into a film but there has been much controversy re: the veracity of certain things.

A slightly spooky read -
The Lake by Catherine Cooper. Here's my 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

What I’m Reading Now: Two Powerful Memoirs by Sheila P. KellyI’ve recently finished There Is No Flag Worth Dying For by Sheila P. Kelly. It’s a frank and human memoir about her life during the Troubles in Northern Ireland, tough, emotional, and inspiring in the way she talks about courage, community, and survival.
Now, I’ve picked up her follow-up memoir, Whiskey In The Tae, and it’s such a lovely shift: childhood stories, céilí’s above the bike shop, local adventures, and memories full of warmth, humour, and family.
If you like real-life stories about resilience, growing up in complicated times, or Irish life in all its complexity, these might be right up your alley.
Questions for you all:
Do you read a lot of memoirs?
What’s the most memorable Irish memoir (or memoir about conflict) you’ve read?
Do you think stories from personal histories help connect us more deeply to the past?
Would love to hear your recommendations or reflections! 😊

I recommend a fiction book I just finished titled Material Motive. Humor and crime and a strong female protagonist as well as a lot of unique characters.
]I just finished this book by a new author. Loved it. Made me laugh a lot...crime and humor? Who would have thunk it?

I love memoirs! I read a great many every year. Mostly high-profile autobiographies, but I also enjoy those like you mentioned. I will have to check that book out.
