I come across that so often. Middle book syndrome is so disappointing!

I've just finished: Deadline (Newsflesh Trilogy, #2) by Mira Grant Deadline, which was good, 3.5 stars (but not brilliant like the first book in the series: Feed).

Also finished: The Reapers Are the Angels The Reapers Are the Angels (Reapers, #1) by Alden Bell which I found very disappointing. So much promise. Lovely descriptive passages but no meat. 2 stars (I bumped it up from 1).

Now reading: Lockdown (Escape From Furnace, #1) by Alexander Gordon Smith Lockdown, which I'm finding really good so far.

Adhityani (dhitri) Finished reading Adharanand Finn's Running with the Kenyans (on my iPad so can't tag). Gave it four stars -- it's a read that is enjoyable to runners and non runners alike as it immerses the reader in the local culture and is packed with wonderful and character characters. Here 's a link to my review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Natasha Burns | 25 comments I've been carrying around my copy of a book but with school starting back and returning from holidays, I've had no time to read at all for a week! But I continue to carry it around with me, hoping to start it very soon. It's called "Two Brothers" by Ben Elton. The lady in my local bookshop raved about it so I'm hoping it will be a good one.

Michele I just finished Birdman by Mo Hayder - the first of her books that I have read and it definitely won't be the last.

message 4761: by Michele (new)

Michele Michael wrote: "What was it like Michele? I have her second book The Treatment and am looking forward to reading it."

It was the first in the Jack Caffery series, I liked him as a main character and want to read more about him. I thought it was well written, a bit gruesome, but I have read worse. I think if you enjoy crime fiction, then you would enjoy this. Not sure if you would need to read them in order - there is a bit of detail about Jack's life, but perhaps she will rehash in subsequent books.

Michele I just finished Thirst by L.A. Larkin. An excellent thriller, if anyone is looking for a book by a female Aussie author for their Australian challenge, I highly recommend this book.

Actually, you can tag on iPhones - I worked it out - its exactly the same "add book/author" eg. War and Peace. Lol I don't know why War and Peace came to my head as an example!!

James Loftus | 134 comments Great title. Great story. I can tell I am going to like it. Descriptions of the outback landscape, endless the sand dunes, endless the horizon, endlessly hot. I lived in Cloncurry and travelled all over the north and north west. I was stationed asa cop in the south west, Qld, Eromanga, where, the scenery is great, but they have ants the size of Armadillo's Armadillos, actually with fangs like razors, so, give me the north-west every day. The Aboriginal connection to the land is easy to understand when faced with the majesty of the eternal land ... going on forever ... not moulded by a human hand, as it was, when man made his living as a hunter and gatherer.

That's good news, I've got that on my self waiting to be read.

message 4791: by Adhityani (new)

Adhityani (dhitri) I will dedicate the rest of the month to "studying" Barbara Kingsolver - Prodigal Summer and Animal, Vegetable, Miracle are on my Summer Reading list anyway (I am very behind!).

I don't know why I decided to read Flight of Behaviour first, perhaps because it was new and there is just something about new releases that makes you want to drop anything you're reading at the moment. Anyone feel like this, too?

The temp here in the Northeast (Connecticut, US) is in the teens, and the wind is howling. In the meantime, you can see it on my blog, under Books to Read tab. I'll try to participate more.
