Thank you. I'm liking it so far. Have you read the other books? So many books... so little time... :-)

Very true, Cath. I've read The Angel's Game but didn't realise there was a third, so thanks for that. I must say I still enjoyed the first much more than his second book.

I haven't gotten round to the newer ones, but I'm sure I will one day. Hope you enjoy it!
I've finished The Strange Fate of Kitty Easton by Elizabeth Speller, which was quite good after a slow start and now I've started Women of the Silk by Gail Tsukiyama.

This is a brilliant book Cath & I'm glad you are liking it so far.
I read The Angel's Game twice & I enjoyed it more the second time around than the first. It's a complex mystery (well for me anyhow) & you need to take your time with it...it's different to The Shadow of the Wind
I'm planning to read SOW again next month :)

Still reading 1Q84, #3. I really like this series of books and thank whoever it was who mentioned them as being good.
About halfway through One Day which is not my usual genre. It's pretty ho hum so far, hope it picks up soon. The characters are quite frustrating!
Just finished, The Potato Factory. He starts his books os well ... then for me in the last third, they fade a bit. Like the sun in the afternoon. But he is a great story teller.

I have just finished a book for Book Club The Women in Black by Madeleine St John - it was not a bad read. I am also listending to Beneath the Southern Cross by Judy Nunn and The Greatest Man in Cedar Hole by Stephanie Doyan - These are both quite enjoyable.
Reading all the short listed Man Booker Prize novels - 2006 to 2012 (the ones I have not read to date that is)
Just past the middle of this brick (774 pages of close print) The Land of Painted Caves
by Jean M. Auel interesting but quite a lot of repetition.

I've just put up my reviews of The Shelly Beach Writers' GroupThe Shelly Beach Writers' Group and Home Front.Home Front Also does anyone else get annoyed with book reviews that tell the whole story of the book in detail. I just want an impression of the book, what was good or what wasn't, not the whole story retold so I don't want to even bother reading the book. Is it just me?

People are NOT supposed to do that Dale...they are supposed to put that there are spoilers if they want to tell the whole story! You could always comment after their review, saying they have a spoiler in there!

That's what I thought but it doesn't happen a lot of the time. I suppose I could. Don't like too sound too negative but this morning it really got to me. Maybe I'm having a bad day LOL. It's not just on goodreads it happens. I've seen people do it in other places too. That's why I often don't read reviews till after I've read the book.Or I only read the first paragraph I don't like to know too much of what happens. Maybe I'm weird.

You're not weird! Why would you want to read the book if you've been told how it ends!!!

They are written by people who did not listen at school and do not know the difference between writing a summary and writing a review.

Reading The Kingmaker's Daughter. It started really well but I am about two thirds of the way through and it is beginning to drag. Shame.

Odd Hours. I love Odd, especially his strange psychic powers. In this book he has persuaded Elvis to move on but now he has Frank Sinatra hanging around. Plus a ghost dog. Great fun!
I've currently got three books on the go, hoping to make some headway with all these challenges!!!The Zookeeper's Wife, The Christmas Pearland To Be Sung Underwater. I am mainly focusing on the first one but hope to have all three done by the end of the month...fingers crossed.
